The dimensions of this mask fully correspond to the circumference of the child’s head, so the baby will not feel any discomfort. To prepare the accessory, you will need the simplest things:

• sheets of plain white paper;
• sheets of colored paper (red, black);
• white cardboard;
• stapler;
• glue;
• scissors;
• black pencil or felt-tip pen;
• simple pencil.

Instructions for making the accessory

First, the frame of the mask is made. Three strips 2.5-3 cm wide are cut from cardboard. The length of the strips varies. One of them corresponds to the circumference of the baby’s head, the other two are equal to a semicircle. The ends of the long strip are fastened with a stapler to form a circle. The short ones are attached crosswise to form the frame of a bunny's head. From white paper (if you have it, you can take gray sheets, then you will get a gray hare mask) cut out a figure-eight face and ears. The eyes, nose, mouth and tongue of the animal are made from colored paper of the appropriate color. Next, several sheets of white hands to make it softer. Afterwards these sheets are pasted over the frame so that it looks like a hat. On the sides of the crown, slits are made into which the cut out ears are inserted. They are fixed on the inside of the mask with glue. Then the muzzle, eyes, mouth and tongue are glued to the front side. Leave to dry. The do-it-yourself hare mask is almost done, just a few touches left. When the glue dries well, black dots or antennae are drawn on the muzzle. That's it, the hare mask in the form of a cap is completely ready - you can go to the New Year's celebration.

The next version of the New Year's accessory is ideal for kindergarten holidays. Your baby will be comfortable and interested in this outfit. So, a do-it-yourself hare mask is made from ordinary cardboard.

First, draw a template of the bunny's face on white cardboard and carefully cut it out using scissors. You also need to make holes for the eyes. They should be cut out very carefully so as not to spoil the entire template. It is advisable for parents to do this part of the work themselves to avoid injury to the baby. Next, paint it with bright colors of the appropriate color. So, for example, the base (muzzle and ears) can be left white or repainted as a nose, the rims of the eyes and eyelashes can be painted black, and the tongue can be painted pink or red.

By the way, it is better to paint parts with gouache, since this type of paint applies more easily, does not spread, and dries quickly. When the paint has dried well, make small holes on the sides of the mask so that you can insert an elastic band or tie a ribbon there. This way the mask will stay on the child's head. In principle, you can do without rubber bands. In this case, a strip equal to the semicircle of the head is cut out of paper and attached to the mask with a stapler. You can decorate your New Year's accessory with sparkles, sequins, pieces of fluff or rhinestones.

How to make a bird mask?

Today’s article will be very short, because the answer to this question can be fit into one sentence and a couple of pictures, because making a bird mask is very simple.

What do we actually need? - Make a beak, come up with a way to attach it to the face. You can do this with domino glasses, or you can use a half mask. I prefer the second option. Here is a universal pattern for a mask of any little bird. Basic, so to speak.

For an adult, the width of the mask will be exactly the width of an A4 landscape sheet. Cut the darts on the forehead, roll them in slightly and seal them. In life, a bird's beak consists of an upper and lower part (jaw), but we will only do the upper half, because the lower "jaw" would interfere with the actor's ability to breathe and speak.

You see that the brighter and more colorful, the more beautiful it turns out. You can use felt for the base; it is denser and will also hold its shape better. It is better to attach all jewelry while it is hot. To fix it on your head, you can use an elastic band or glue a stick holder to the side.

Non-standard solution

Cardboard masks

As you can see, the material for manufacturing can be varied. Some of them are at hand, but often underestimated. You can make not only masks for children from paper, but also from cardboard. This refers to the thick cardboard from which boxes are made. Everyone probably has a cardboard box of household appliances in their home. This is exactly what you will need to create the foundation. The good thing about brown cardboard is that it doesn't need to be painted, making it great for the faces of a variety of animals. Here, for example, is a dog’s face made of cardboard.

It is necessary to attach additional parts to such cardboard bases; in the case of a dog’s face, you will need a nose, ears, and eyebrows. You can use pieces of foam rubber, cotton wool or other bulky material. If you draw well, you can use a black marker to mark the missing details: mustache, nose, facial lines. You will also need to secure the fixing elastic; too thin will not work for this mask. To ensure that the elastic itself is tightly connected to the cardboard and does not tear the base, you need to know one trick. Thread one end of the elastic through the hole and tie a piece of foam rubber. Do the same on the other side, the muzzle is ready.

Complementing the image

The mask is only one of the elements of a children's costume. To harmoniously complete the look, you can decorate your clothes or match them. It is worth taking into account the specifics of the image and supplementing it with the necessary attributes. Let's say you need to sew a ponytail on your dog's pants and put on paw mittens. For carnival, you need to decorate your dress or suit with sparkles. But you can do without it. Just choose plain clothes to match the color of the base or its individual elements. A beautiful costume for a child for a holiday does not have to be expensive at all; original and well-thought-out details are enough.

You can celebrate your name day by performing the play “Fly-Tsokotukha”. For example, in the style of a skit - do not sew costumes, but identify the heroes by wearing masks and hats.

Length - 85 cm (this is if the masks are intended for adults or teenagers). Ideally, masks should be made exactly according to the measurements of the specific performer of the role. But in life, a good isolon mask serves faithfully for years, and the actors change. Therefore, let's take average sizes.

Using this we glue the frame together in the following order. We make a cut at the back of the head, which will make it possible to slightly change the size.

Cut out the fly's face according to the pattern. The color is gray or pink (depending on whether you prefer the resemblance to insects or like more humanized characters). I myself adhered to the stylized appearance of insects. Since Chukovsky wrote about insects, we will play with their features. The eyes are made of green foil, it would be better if it is a green holographic self-adhesive film. If you really want to, you can decorate your eyes with long eyelashes and glue the lips with a bow under your long nose. The six legs can be made simply black, or you can wear gloves and shoes. To make it more elegant, the frame of the cap can also be decorated with green or blue foil. We will make the wings from transparent plastic film. I took a transparent cover for a school textbook - they are sold in stationery stores (I don’t recommend using hard plastic, for example, from soda cans - the edges are sharp, and we don’t want anyone to cut themselves in the commotion of the show). We will lay out the veins on the wings with narrow strips of colored self-adhesive film. You can draw with a permanent marker, but... it won’t look very elegant. That’s all – enough for a convincing image of a fly. If your soul really wants a beauty and a coquette, there is an option to wear a tiny hat with a veil, but I didn’t do it myself - in my opinion it was too much.

The portrayal of this character can be approached in two ways. Or interpret him as a gloomy villain, then he will be all black and like a tarantula spider. Muscular hairy legs, a villainous muzzle: frowning eyebrows, bloody fangs... The frame of the spider was made of dark blue isolon. Long, multi-colored jointed legs in different-sized shoes, a blue face with eyes narrowed to the nose and a grinning mouth - and that's enough - let's refrain from excessive brutality, after all, this is an old spider.
