Hidden possibilities of a foam sponge, which is suitable not only for washing dishes. How can you replace curlers to make beautiful curls: stockings, sponges, etc. Curling hair with dish sponges

Hello to all my readers!
Nepisad has been gone for a long time! But today I want to dedicate my review to curls.

I love making them and most often I use an iron.
But I don’t always have time in the morning to curl them, although it doesn’t take that much time (but my hair has become long and I have to spend about half an hour curling it).

Recently I came across some likefacks on YouTube where a girl was making her own curls using dishwashing sponges!!! Yes, yes... you heard right.
I don’t know how, but this is a first time technique for me...
I decided to try it and there was just a reason.

My husband was going on a business trip and wasn’t home for a week, and to be beautiful on the day of his arrival, I decided to use and at the same time test this method.

I have a lot of sponges for washing dishes, so I didn’t have to buy any extra ones.
8 pieces were enough for my entire head and they were of different diameters, so I took them on purpose...
And we also need rubber bands, you can take them for money, in general any:

Wash your hair first and dry it well with a towel (I left it slightly damp).
And we take it in decent strands.

And wind the strands onto half of the sponge, winding each strand in different directions.
And fold the sponge in half and secure it with a rubber band, as shown in the photo:

These are the funny donuts I came up with.
Well, that's all! Nothing complicated and took me about five minutes.

Let's go to bed, that is, I wound up at 2 a.m. (yes, I have insomnia) and let it go at 10 a.m., namely, I walked with them for about 8 hours.
Even if you need to go somewhere in the evening, you can curl it in the morning and undo it in the evening, right before going out.

These are the curls you get:

Spray them a little with hairspray, only a little, since such curls should be light, soft and airy and do not weigh them down with hairspray:

Well, here is my naturally straight hair and photos before and after sponges:

I liked this effect more than boomerangs:

In conclusion, I want to say that I will do curls more often, as I really liked the effect.
It is not expensive, convenient, and does not require any skills or effort.
That's all, thanks for your attention!

As a rule, a foam sponge is used in the kitchen for washing dishes. However, it can find many other uses in everyday life. The sponge will help both during the move and during repairs. The main thing is to know how to use it optimally.

1. Transportation of fragile items

To prevent fragile items made of glass, crystal and ceramics from breaking during transportation, place several foam sponges between them.

2. Flower care

Place a foam sponge at the bottom of the flower pot and cover with soil. This trick will create optimal conditions for growing plants. If you overdo it with watering, the sponge will absorb excess moisture and retain it until the soil dries out.

3. Nail polish removal

Use an empty pill bottle and pieces of foam sponge to create a unique nail polish remover. Pieces of sponge should be tightly packed into the bottle along the walls, pour in a little acetone and lower your finger for a couple of minutes.

4. Toy furniture

Toy furniture that can be easily made from pieces of foam sponges is a great idea for joint creativity between parents and children.

5. Fragrant secret

Apply your favorite perfume or a couple of drops of essential oil to a piece of sponge and place it in the corner of your closet or chest of drawers with clothes. Things will quickly become saturated with aroma and you will always smell fragrant.

6. Knee pads

Using an elastic band and two sponges, you can make simple knee pads that will come in handy when cleaning the house or garden.

7. Comfortable handle

Wrap the handle of a broom, mop or shovel with a sponge to prevent calluses from forming on your hands after working with the tool for a long time.

8. Crevices

Autumn is the time when you need to take care of the warmth of your home. Dishwashing sponges can help get rid of drafts by using them to plug cracks in wooden window frames.

9. Cleaning dishes with a narrow neck

Wrap a bamboo stick in a foam sponge, secure with a rubber band, and use the resulting device to wash bottles and jars with a narrow neck.

10. Curlers

Essentially, kitchen sponges are the same curlers, only of a different shape. Therefore, if you want to curl your hair, but don’t have anything suitable at hand, use them.

11. Seed germination

Scouring sponges are great at retaining heat and moisture, making them a great place to germinate seeds.

12. Furniture protection

Sponge for washing dishes- a useful thing in the household.

Every housewife has sponges in her arsenal, but not everyone knows how to use them to maximum advantage.

They will come in handy for different occasions: to clean, to restore beauty, and even to organize watering of flowers while the owners of the house are away.

1. For cleaning the microwave oven

A sponge in the kitchen is a real salvation. To avoid scrubbing greasy stains from the walls of the microwave for a painfully long time, place a damp sponge inside and turn on the normal mode for 2-3 minutes. During this time, the steam from the sponge will soften the fat, and you can remove it without difficulty.

2. For washing blinds and plastic windows

What could be more tedious than washing blinds or other hard-to-reach places? When getting ready to do your spring cleaning, take kitchen tongs and tie a sponge to them with rubber bands. There is another option: cut a small piece of foam rubber and attach it to a kitchen brush. Such devices will help you easily wash blinds, radiators, plastic window frames, and fan blades.

3. Sponge instead of special napkins for washing

If you don’t have a special laundry cloth on hand that acts as an antistatic agent, collects animal hair, or prevents laundry from shedding, use a regular sponge instead.

Pre-soak the sponge in a container of water with added laundry conditioner. Before you start washing, take out the sponge, wring it out and put it in the drum. You will see that all the dirt will collect on the sponge.

4. Sponge for children's crafts

If you are annoyed by drops of glue on the floor and table after children's crafts, this is not a reason to deprive your child of creativity. Remember how they put stamps on mail envelopes? Apply the stamp to a sponge moistened with glue. Try to do the same at home: fill the sponge with glue, leave it for a while so that the glue is absorbed, and then just moisten it with a little water. Cleanliness guaranteed!

5. Sponge for cleaning suede products

There is no need to purchase expensive sponges specifically for suede products; just use a kitchen sponge. Bags, shoes and jackets can be easily cleaned if you first remove the dirt with the rough side of a sponge and lightly brush it away. And then walk over the product with the soft side with a ball of foam for cleaning suede.

6. Sponges for caring for indoor plants

Kitchen sponges will be useful if you need to go on a business trip for a day or two, but there is no one to water the flowers. In this case, you can generously moisten the sponges with water and place them on top of the ground in the pot.

If the pot is small, then you can even place it on top of the sponge. In this case, water is poured into the tray, the sponge gradually absorbs it, thereby moistening the flower.

There is another way for flower growers to use sponges: a sponge can be an excellent drainage: just lay it on the bottom of the pot, and lay a layer of soil on top and plant the plant.

7. Kitchen sponges instead of curlers

Making luxurious curls using foam sponges is as easy as shelling pears. You need to place the sponge horizontally, twist a strand of hair around it, then fold it in half and tie it with an elastic band. It’s comfortable to sleep with such soft curlers, and in the morning you will have a wonderful hairstyle!

8. How to care for your sponge

It is known that a kitchen sponge is a breeding ground for dirt. To disinfect it and remove unpleasant odors, use essential oils of eucalyptus, mint, and lemon. Apply a couple of drops to the sponge and you will immediately feel the difference when using it!

Many owners of straight hair dream of beautiful curls or perky curls. One way to make your dream come true is to use foam curlers, which are easy for even a beginner to handle.

Peculiarities

The history of artificial curling of curls dates back to Ancient Greece, where fashionistas curled their hair using hot curling irons and small sticks - the ancestors of modern hair curlers. By the way, the very name “curler” appeared much later – in medieval France.

What types of curlers have not been invented by the masters of the beauty industry during this time: thermo-, electric-, Velcro and others. Especially many of their varieties appeared in the 20th century. Among the latest inventions are foam curling products, which have many advantages over their predecessors.

Foam products:

  • Lungs. Their weight is practically not felt on the hair and does not create discomfort.
  • Soft. You can easily wind them on at night - they will not interfere with a full, comfortable sleep.
  • Safe. They do not damage the hair during use (do not dry, break or contribute to hair loss).
  • Compact. They don't take up much space. Can be stored in a small box or cosmetic bag.

At the same time, they are easy to use - even a non-professional can easily handle them.

Foam curlers can be used with almost no restrictions, although there are a few nuances that are worth knowing about.

Kinds

Foam rubber curlers can be different in:

  • shape (round or oblong);
  • diameter – from 1 to 25 cm;
  • material density;
  • price and quality.

At the same time, the entire variety of foam rubber products can be divided into three main groups:

  • For traditional curls. They are made in the form of small rollers with a diameter of 2-5 cm.
  • For spiral curls. Such products are also called lox. They are made in the form of an elongated flexible stick with an elastic band. In the process of using them, a strand of hair is clamped with a stick bent in half and wound onto it in a spiral. Fixation is carried out using an elastic band.

There is also an option in the form of spiral covers, equipped with a special plastic hook. Using this hook, the strand is captured and placed in the case. The curl is secured with a fabric elastic band.

  • Papillots, also called boomerangs. They consist of denser foam rubber with a core made of strong but flexible wire. They allow you not to use additional fasteners - the strand is simply wound onto a curler, which is finally bent and fixed.

Night styling using the first two groups of curlers is as comfortable as possible. However, due to the excessive softness of foam rubber, such products can bend during sleep, which can cause kinks to appear on the curls.

Papillots guarantee beautiful, even curls, but sleeping on them is not as comfortable as on products without a wire frame.

How to use?

Any woman or girl can curl beautiful curls at home without the help of professional hairdressers. In order to properly curl your hair with foam rollers, you just need to follow a simple algorithm:

  1. Wash and dry your hair a little. You can use a hairdryer for this. Hair should be fairly damp, but not wet.
  2. Comb your hair thoroughly. If necessary, you can use a special spray to facilitate detangling.
  3. Apply mousse or foam to fix evenly distributed along the entire length. Without this, even if the hair curls easily and quickly, the curls will not last long. However, you shouldn’t overdo it with the fixative so that the curls don’t look unnatural.
  4. Divide the hair into the top side and two back sections, securing them with hairpins.
  5. Separating one strand and wrapping its tip in curlers, twist the spiral to the very roots. To do this, place the curler under the strand about 5 cm from the ends - this will be enough to wrap around the product once and continue to twist further. At the same time, it is necessary to wrap it as tightly as possible so that the curls do not fall apart during sleep.
  6. Firmly fix the structure. To ensure that there are no unsightly kinks left on the curls, it is better to move the fasteners and clips to the lower part of the curl.

The easiest way to curl is to start with the bangs, then curl the strands from the top section, then from the sides and finally at the back of the head. The papillots are laid evenly one after another. After all the strands are wrapped around the rollers, the hairstyle is allowed to dry.

As a rule, it takes several hours to dry completely, so the spirals are left until the morning.

In the morning, each strand is carefully untwisted and straightened. If desired, the curls can be lightly sprayed with hairspray.

In addition to the traditional horizontal winding method, you can also use the vertical method. This is a relatively new invention of fashionistas and professional stylists. With this option, the curling is not done over the entire length, but only at the ends.

For greater originality, you can use curlers of various sizes.

Every fashionista has her own preferences: one wants to have large soft curls, the other wants small romantic curls. At the same time, everyone wants to get the most beautiful and durable effect.

Advice from professional stylists and hairdressers will help you make your dream come true:

  1. For soft curls take large curlers and grab a larger strand (the larger the curlers, the softer the curls). For small curls, on the contrary, you will need thin spirals.
  2. When hair dries quickly Before winding, it is necessary to wet each individual section of strands.
  3. If your hair is curly, then first you need to straighten them using leveling serum or tongs.
  4. For tighter curls You can curl your hair before wrapping it with curlers.
  5. To reduce the risk of the curlers unwinding, At night, you can tie your head with a scarf or wear a bandana.
  6. When removing curlers with fastening elements You must act carefully so that your hair does not get caught in the fastener. Do not pull the strands too hard to avoid breaking the curls.
  7. After the coils are removed, You should not use a comb to avoid getting a “lion’s mane.” It is enough to simply distribute the curls with your hands. If necessary, you can comb only the ends.
  8. Do not use foam rubber products in wet weather. The result may not be as expected.

For those who love originality, experts also suggest experimenting. For example, curling only one part of a short haircut and leaving the other straight is simple, easy and unusual! This hairstyle will definitely attract the attention of others!

Even something as simple as a sponge has great potential. The versatility of its application is truly surprising, so I suggest you study the most useful life hacks!

Always ready!

On top, in the soft part, we cut out a recess for soap, then it will always remain dry, without lagging on the edge of the sink. Or we make a cut on the side and put a piece of soap inside, so you can take a sponge and immediately start washing dishes or the sink.

Keep in the freezer

We wet the sponge, put it in a bag and put it in the freezer for about a couple of hours (or overnight). After freezing, we will have the perfect compress to eliminate bruises and swelling after injuries.

And in this way we will obtain a refrigerant that will save products during long-term transportation! It is very convenient to take on picnics and trips to the country.

Removing nail polish quickly and easily

Take an unnecessary jar with a tightly screwed lid. Place dish sponges there so that they lie tightly. Pour nail polish remover on top. Now all you have to do is lower your finger and rub your nail on the foam!

Periodically, of course, you need to change the sponges, but this is much more convenient than fiddling with cotton pads, especially when it comes to nail polish with glitter.

Washing the microwave

The microwave oven is used every day, slowly but surely becoming covered with a coating of grease, persistent stains, and acquiring an unpleasant odor. A very easy method based on the principle of a bath will help you get rid of this.

  1. Wet a kitchen sponge well with water.
  2. Squeeze dishwashing liquid onto it. We don't regret it! We need plenty of foam.
  3. Place in the microwave.
  4. We turn on the minimum mode, make sure that the foam does not melt! As a rule, 30 seconds are enough for cleaning.
  5. Open the door, take the same sponge and wash the walls of the oven.

The steam softens stains, helping you clean quickly.

We clean blinds, radiators and fans

How many nerves were spent on washing each plate! Now I’m sharing the idea, in my opinion - it’s brilliant!

We take ordinary kitchen tongs and make a small cut in the sponge. We have an excellent device for cleaning dust from hard-to-reach places on both sides at once!

What to do with a narrow jar?

To wash a jar with a narrow neck, cut the sponge in half. We cut each part from the end and insert a magnet there. Apply dishwashing detergent to one half, foam it and place it in a jar. We move the other half along the outside of the can. The magnets will be attracted, and we can quickly and easily wash away all the dirt!

It is best to use cellulose sponges. According to experts, they are more compliant with hygiene requirements.

We erase

Stores sell expensive napkins for washing, but you don’t have to spend money, it’s better to do this:

  1. Take a bucket with a lid or a container and a pack of sponges.
  2. Pour water into a container and add your favorite fabric softener.
  3. We put the sponges, close the lid and leave them in the bathroom on the shelf.
  4. During washing, we take out one piece, wring it out and put it in the drum of the washing machine.
  5. After completing the cycle, we return our “worker” back.

The method removes static electricity, lint and plaque, prevents shedding and saves the family budget!

Curling your hair

Famous blogger Charmy Jane twisted her hair around her lips, securing it with elastic bands, and got luxurious curls in the morning. I can assume that in ordinary life this can only be useful if curlers or curling irons suddenly disappear from the house.

Essential oils

We all know that foam surfaces, water and food debris are excellent places for colonies of many pathogenic bacteria. It is recommended to change the sponges every week, but it is also necessary to properly care for them during use. There are many ways, but my favorite is using essential oils. Some people drip onto the surface, others prefer to make a solution of vinegar and oil, leaving the sponge in it overnight. I believe that the second method is more reliable! Vinegar is an excellent disinfectant, and oil kills germs and gives a pleasant aroma.

The result is a TOP of 9 coolest tricks that will be useful to every housewife! Of course, I can’t say for sure about curlers, but all the other life hacks have been tested from personal experience - I recommend them!
