Very small nail plate. Manicure for small nails. Small nails. What to do? Manicure for very small nails. Interesting designs for small nails

Small nails can cause major troubles for both their owner and the manicurist. Often such nails look unaesthetic. Sometimes, gnawing on the free edge, their owner attracts even closer attention to his hands. Small nails are inconvenient to handle; almost any design looks out of place on them; bright polish looks bad...

So, the eternal questions - “Who is to blame?” and “What should I do?” Let's try to figure it out.

WHO IS GUILTY?

Of course, genetics is to blame. What is given to us by nature is very difficult, almost impossible, to change. Parents may be partly to blame for cutting their child’s nails too short. By cutting their nails too short, parents can damage the hyponychium. The habit of constantly biting your nails gives the same result.

Now that the culprits have been found, let's look at the main types of small nails:

1. Thickened, usually sedentary. The nail plate is small, wide, trapezoidal, “spread out” along the nail bed.

2. Springboard-shaped, rounded, very soft.

3. Regular shape, but very narrow and small.

4. Bitten: short, with highly developed ridges, including lateral ones. at the same time rough, uneven, with burrs.

The first type of nails does not require special care. Their owners can be advised to use extensions to lengthen the nail bed with matte acrylics. Naturally, extensions should not violate the proportions of the hand.

The most difficult nails to improve are the second and fourth types. The material does not adhere well to springboard-shaped nails. This is due to the greater mobility of the nail plate - this is fraught with lifting of the artificial material at the cuticle and side ridges.

The peculiarity of nails of the second and fourth types is that the body is trying to “build up what is missing.” It compensates for the lack of thickness and/or length of the nail plate with accelerated growth. Moreover, such nail plates, as a rule, emit more moisture and fat, so their treatment before extensions should be carried out especially carefully, strictly following the technology. Another problem arises: modeled nails often look unaesthetic - they bend upward.

Due to the size, it is inconvenient to work with type 3 nails. By applying artificial material or using files, you can touch and/or damage the nail folds and cuticles. Lengthening the nail bed is possible and successfully used for nails of the fourth type. This is an effective way to visually correct their shape, but performing such extensions is more difficult than in the case of the first type of nails.

WHAT TO DO?

First of all, seek an individual approach to each client. Remember that with a small nail bed, without lengthening it is impossible to achieve a beautiful line and correct proportions of a smile. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the wishes of the client. These recommendations are valid for nail plates of the first and fourth types.

For nails of the second and fourth types, strict adherence to technology and increased attention to disinfection come to the fore. If the hands are excessively sweaty, or the nail plate is “oily” and wet, the client’s hands should be completely treated. This procedure can be repeated as necessary throughout the extension process. In addition, when working with such a client, the master must disinfect his own hands so that the work area remains absolutely clean. It is also recommended to use preparations that normalize the acidity of the nails (they can be applied in several layers).

When strengthening or extending type 2 nails, it is especially important to seal the free edge to prevent the material from peeling off. Nails of the fourth (and sometimes second) type can be modeled both on forms and on tips, preferably without a contact zone. Bitten nails have no free edge, which means it is impossible to seal them. In addition, the tipe additionally protects the pad of the finger.

By the way, regular nail extensions can somewhat correct the shape of the nail due to the growth of hyponychium. Such a client most likely will not have an ideal egg-shaped smile, but some improvement will be noticeable after systematic extensions.

When working with type 3 nails, it is very important to be extremely careful that neither the primer nor the modeling material gets on the lateral ridges or cuticle. For the same reason and just as carefully, you need to work with files and buffs.

As for the brush for modeling small nails, as a rule, its size is not important. You just need to make sure that the brush fits the extension system exactly. A universal option is a flat brush with a sharp tip.
For scented acrylics, round brushes are suitable. Their size may vary; For small nails, you can choose a small brush. An experienced craftsman, by correctly squeezing the brush against the edge of the cup, can adjust the size of the acrylic ball. Odorless acrylic is best modeled with a flat brush. This is due to the extension technology - the so-called “patting” (from English to pat - to press, pat). Synthetic brushes are good for working with gels.

The qualifications of the master will allow him to determine by eye the optimal amount of modeling material.

When lengthening the nail bed, ensure its proportionality: the lengthening should not be unnatural and should not extend excessively beyond the natural nail plate. If the client is categorically against extensions, offer him a manicure. The master chooses which one depending on the condition of the nail plate and nail folds. A combined manicure is preferable, as it helps eliminate imperfections and is gentle on the cuticle. You can recommend spa care or a systematic manicure to the client, allowing you to move from trimmed to combined, and then to spa care.
You can strengthen small nails, but for effective strengthening you need a free edge at least 2-3 millimeters wide. Otherwise, you cannot guarantee the work of the master. Thin nails, even those with a free edge, require strengthening in several layers.

Speaking about decorating small nails, you should remember that they should not be overloaded with decorative elements. Offer your client a nail bed extension, varnished NAILS, or an unobtrusive design that includes longitudinal lines (they visually lengthen the nail plate). Bright varnish is appropriate if the nails have a free edge protruding beyond the nail fold (in particular, nails of the third type). The basic rule: no large elements, pastel-colored varnishes, a minimum of decorative elements.

A SEPARATE QUESTION...MALE HANDS?

The “face” of men’s manicure is polishing. But polished nails attract unnecessary attention. Therefore, if a male client has small nails, offer him a manicure and matte polish. This will result in an even, smooth, natural coating that gives your nails a well-groomed appearance and is not conspicuous. If the nail plate allows, be sure to leave approximately 2 mm of free edge.

Metrosexual clients can be offered extensions that do not protrude beyond the nail pad. The main thing is to carefully design the free edge and avoid excessive shine of the nails.

Not everyone likes long nails. Some people often have to work at the computer or take care of a baby, while others simply cannot grow the length and have to be content with what they have. But small nails are not a reason to give up a beautiful manicure.

Well-groomed hands can do anything. Our article will tell you in detail about some popular techniques that you can easily implement yourself. Using the tips, you can easily come up with and do a manicure for small nails yourself.

Emphasis on shades

The only difficulty you may encounter when implementing such a spectacular manicure is the need to purchase several varnishes of similar shades. But the result will definitely please you. To make your hands look impressive, you don’t need a special tool or the ability to draw.

To create such a manicure for small nails, gel polish is perfect. But you can get by with the usual one.

Carry out the necessary hygiene procedures and simply paint your nails with different shades of the same color, using a polish one shade darker than the previous one for each subsequent finger.

Spray

A detailed illustration will help you understand how to make such a bright, unusual manicure. The idea of identical blots is great for a multi-colored manicure. The spots seem to unite the marigolds painted with bright colors into a single composition.

Before starting decorative work, prepare your nails and treat the cuticles. Apply the varnish, let it dry completely (if you are using gel, dry it under a special lamp). Generously lubricate the skin around the nail plate with a rich cream, this will make it easier to remove splashes from it.

Apply a few drops of black polish to a toothbrush and spread evenly over the surface using a toothpick. Place the brush with the bristles up, press the toothpick along the bristles, and expose your nails to the stream of flying splashes. When the blots are dry, remove all drops that get on the skin using a cotton swab soaked in a special liquid.

Manicure tape

Narrow strips with an adhesive backing open up enormous scope for creativity. Before manicuring small nails using tape, cut it into small strips slightly longer than your nail. Apply base coat. Apply the tape in any random order, cover it with contrasting varnish and let it dry completely, then carefully remove the glued elements.

Paper-based masking tape is great for manicure. You can use small scissors to cut out any decor to use in your design.

Metal strip technique

Narrow metallized ribbons of various colors are found in abundance in nail art supply stores today. You can use them to create a stylish manicure for small nails.

Prepare varnish of two matching shades, a transparent fixative varnish, a metal strip cut into pieces, as well as a blade and tweezers. It is more convenient to start working with the nails of the ring fingers. Cover them with a layer of varnish, let them dry, apply a second coat and immediately use tweezers to arrange the strips in a random order. Let dry. When the varnish has completely hardened, carefully cut off the excess ends with a blade and apply a layer of sealer.

Apply polish to the rest of your nails and dry. Metal strips can be used for both gel manicure and regular manicure.

Gradient

This technique appeared several years ago and has proven itself to be excellent. On short nails the gradient looks especially impressive.

We will need varnishes of three harmonious shades, a fine-grained sponge, cotton swabs, rich hand cream, a toothpick and a fixative. If desired, 2-3 nails can be coated with glitter varnish.

Apply the lightest polish of the three selected to your nails. Let it dry. Lubricate the skin around the nail with cream. Draw 3 stripes on the sponge, smear the border between them with a toothpick. Press the sponge onto your nail and carefully spread the print over the entire surface.

Wait for it to dry and remove all excess from the skin with cotton swabs. To make your manicure last longer, you can cover your nails with a layer of fixative.

Working with a stencil

You can create a stylish and neat manicure on small nails at home using a ready-made stencil. The technique is similar to that used when working with tape. However, an adhesive-based manicure stencil applicator allows you to get a small, even and very neat design without much effort.

For such a manicure, it is advisable to use varnishes of contrasting colors, for example bright green and black.

Cover your nails with background polish and dry it. Paste the stencil and apply a layer of contrasting varnish. Under no circumstances move the applicator until the layer is dry, otherwise you will get smeared drips rather than a neat mesh. Only when the varnish has hardened can the stencil strip be removed.

To make the surface smoother, cover your nails with a layer of sealer or clear varnish.

If you use reusable applicators, be sure to clean them of any remaining polish when you're done.

Festive look

For a special occasion, you can choose coatings in rich and sparkling shades. Even such ambiguous varnishes as black, bright red, and gold look good on short nails (on long nails such a manicure can look predatory and defiant).

To make a New Year's manicure for small nails, you can use additional decor in the form of metal elements, half beads, and rhinestones.

The manicure in the photo above was done using gel polish. It looks impressive and solemn, but the technology is extremely simple.

Cover your nails with base and dry in a lamp for 5 minutes. Apply black polish to the nails of your ring fingers and red to the rest. Remember: the first layer should not be placed close to the edges and cuticle, it is better to retreat a little. Dry your nails. Apply a second coat, covering the area close to the nail growth line, and also sealing the end. Dry the varnish again. If desired, use a sealer varnish.

That's all, all that remains is to glue the decorative elements with special glue.

Water manicure

And the next manicure for very small nails is best done with regular polish. You can use any number of colors, but even stripes of two shades look quite elegant.

Degrease your nails and apply cream to the surrounding skin. Add a few drops of pink and white to the surface of warm water poured into a wide bowl. Keep the varnish brush no more than 2 cm from the surface, otherwise the drops will drown. Using a toothpick or needle, make a pattern on the surface. Gently dip your nails into the water and “catch” the blot. When the varnish is dry, clean the skin of your fingers from any traces.

You can do this manicure using gel polish, but it’s better to “fill your hand” with a regular one.

Leopard print nails

The idea of a special nail looks very impressive on short nails. For a bright look, a combination of red, black and leopard print works well.

To make a manicure for small nails with a predatory design, you will need polish in two shades of peach, beige or orange. Cover the nail with a lighter polish and paint a few spots with a darker one. Add final accents with black or dark chocolate.

Crackle

Craquelure polish is a great idea for small nails too. The manicure looks elegant, and the technology is simple, which is why this design is in great demand.

Apply a base coat in a contrasting color. This color will show through crackle cracks.

Under no circumstances should you start working with craquelure varnish until the base one has completely dried. Otherwise, cracking, the crackle will pull the base along with it, exposing the nail plate. This option looks unaesthetic, and the durability will be very small.

The thicker the craquelure layer, the larger the cracks will be. The thin one will crack into small cobwebs. Both options are acceptable, each is good in its own way.

After drying, the layer of craquelure varnish must be covered with a fixative, otherwise the scales will quickly fall off.

This beautiful manicure for small nails can be combined with other varieties, for example, combined with painting.

Magnetic manicure

You can achieve excellent results at low cost using magnetic varnishes. They contain metal particles, which, when in contact with a magnetized surface, are arranged in a bizarre pattern. Stripes with a pattern are sold both complete with the varnish itself and separately.

To do this manicure for small nails, carry out the necessary preliminary procedures, treat the cuticles, and run a fine buff over the surface of the nails. Degrease with alcohol or nail polish remover.

Apply the coating and immediately hold the magnetic strip to your nail. Keep at a minimum distance, but do not touch the nail. It is convenient to use a stopwatch so that the pattern on all nails is the same (it depends on the time of contact with the magnet, which can be 3-10 seconds). Such varnishes are produced mainly in dark colors, since the pattern is almost invisible on light ones. And as we know, rich shades are very suitable for small nails.

Stamping

If you want a DIY manicure on short, small nails that looks like it was done by a professional, stamps can be a great choice. You will need a stamping kit and varnishes of two colors. You can use both gel and regular ones.

Cover all nails with base color polish and wait until dry. Apply a drop or two of contrasting varnish to the embossed surface of the disc, apply pressure with a spatula so that the varnish fills the recess evenly. Press the stamp onto the disc and then carefully place the imprint on the nail. After drying, you will need to remove any remaining varnish from the skin and cuticles. If you are using gel polish, dry each layer under a lamp for 10-15 minutes, and be sure to use a sealer at the end. Then the manicure will look neat and fresh for a long time.

It is believed that information about a person can be found out by looking at his appearance. For example, the shape of nails can easily determine a person’s character. Psychologists assure that, despite the individuality of each person, by analyzing the details of appearance, several common features can be identified.

What does the shape of nails mean - information about a person’s character

By looking at the hands of even an unfamiliar person, you can learn about some of his inner qualities, which he may be hiding from others. First, pay attention to the shape of the nail plate.

How to determine a person’s character by the shape of their nails:

  1. The rectangular shape means that the person is an optimist, and in any situation he does not lose faith in a happy outcome. It is also worth noting his high sense of purpose, which allows him to cope with even the most difficult situations. Thanks to their positivity, such people perceive even negative moments as a lesson.
  2. The square shape indicates leadership qualities, and such people also have great courage and perseverance. They live relying only on the mind, without taking into account. Even the square shape of nails in men and women can indicate such a character trait as balance, regardless of the situation.
  3. The trapezoidal shape is characteristic of creative people who have enormous energy. They are distinguished by high self-esteem, which sometimes leads to conflicts. Despite their inner strength, people with trapezoidal nails are vulnerable individuals for whom the approval of others is important.
  4. The semicircular convex shape of the nails speaks of such character qualities as dreaminess and vulnerability. Such people often have their head in the clouds, thinking about impossible dreams. In life, he is driven by feelings, not by mind. It is also worth saying that people around them often underestimate such people.
  5. Nails shaped like a spatula mean that a person is a good family man. Strong relationships with loved ones are very important to him. If the nails widen towards the edge, this is an indication of the sensuality and emotionality of nature.
  6. By the oval shape of nails in women and men, one can learn about such traits as sentimentality and daydreaming. Because of his ability to idealize everything, problems often arise. Such people are very fair, but at the same time they do not tolerate harshness.

A person’s character can be judged not only by the shape of his nails; for example, if they are thick, it means that the person often shows aggression. If the nails are short, this indicates an independent nature. Long nails mean that their owner is unpredictable and loves luxury.

On the one hand, girls with small nail plates are contraindicated in certain design options - various large elements, ornaments, etc. On the other hand, they are lucky in many ways: small nails look neater, and most importantly, they are ideal for creating the now fashionable minimalist design. With such nails you can implement many interesting ideas: draw laconic designs, use glitter, geometric patterns, combinations of different colors (most importantly, no more than three).
