Official holidays and weekends in Russia. Official holidays and days off in Russia How we work in May

The tradition of celebrating the Spring and Labor Festival (Labor Day), which is celebrated on May 1, and Victory Day - on May 9, has been around for more than one decade in the Russian Federation.

Numerous families in Russia are preparing for the May holidays in advance, thinking about where and how best to spend them. However, in order to properly plan your upcoming short-term vacation, you should know how people vacation in the Russian Federation in May 2018, and which days are considered weekends under current legislation.

International Workers' Day, or May Day, is celebrated on May 1 in more than 140 countries around the world.

What is the holiday associated with May 1st?

The events with which the custom of celebrating May Day was associated took place in the 19th century in Chicago. American workers organized a strike on May 1, 1886 and urgently asked for an eight-hour work day. A workers' strike 132 years ago ended in a clash with police.

As a sign of solidarity with the Chicago workers, the Paris Congress of the Second International decided to hold annual demonstrations on May 1 in July 1889. International Workers' Day was first celebrated in a number of countries in 1890.

For many years, May Day in the Soviet Union was the main state holiday, and in 1992 it was renamed the Spring and Labor Day.

In May, in accordance with the production calendar of the Russian Federation, there will be 20 working days and 11 holidays and weekends.

Spring and Labor Day is the first holiday celebrated on May 1st. On this holiday in the Russian Federation in 2018, they will rest for four days in a row - from April 29 to May 2 inclusive.

On Wednesday, May 2, residents of Russia are resting due to the postponement of the day off on January 7 (Christmas Day) to a weekday in May.

After a string of weekends, Russians have two working days – May 3 and 4 (Thursday and Friday), after which they can relax and enjoy a legitimate weekend.

The weekend in the Russian Federation will be replaced by two working days on May 7-8 (Monday and Tuesday), and on Wednesday, May 9, Russians will celebrate Victory Day. This is followed by a couple of working days (May 10 and 11) and again a weekend.

As a result, in 2018, Russian residents will take one more day off during the May holidays than in 2017.

However, in 2018, Russians will not be able to have continuous May holidays, as they do during the Christmas holidays; however, it is absolutely possible to plan exciting activities in order to relax and enjoy the desired warm and sunny spring-like days.

On May 1, many countries around the world celebrate an international holiday - Labor Day, which from the very beginning was called International Workers' Solidarity Day.

On May 1, 1886, American workers organized a strike, demanding an 8-hour working day. The strike and accompanying demonstration ended in a bloody conflict with law enforcement officers. During the dispersal of such a demonstration in Chicago on May 4, six demonstrators were killed. In the course of numerous protests that followed the next day against the brutal actions of the police due to the explosion of a bomb thrown by an unknown person, eight police officers were killed, at least fifty were maimed, and in the subsequent shootout at least four workers were wounded (according to certain sources, up to 50 dead and wounded ), several dozen people were injured.

For the first time, International Workers' Day was celebrated in 1890 in Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, USA, Norway, France, Sweden and some other countries. The communists celebrated May 1 for the first time in 1890 in Warsaw.

For a long period, May Day was a symbol of revolution, severe class struggle, had a “socio-political overtones” and was marked by demonstrations with beautifully designed portraits of political figures, leaders in production, slogans, appeals, posters and diagrams about achievements in one or another sector of the national economy, science, culture. However, over time this context was lost.

The origin of May Day is directly related to May Day. This involves getting the whole family or company together for a picnic. Picnics are held on May 1st or 2nd. This custom of celebrating in nature was apparently invented in the Soviet Union and has been successfully preserved to this day.

is a near-Earth object with a diameter of about 30 meters. It was discovered on August 29, 2006, when it was at a distance of 4.5 million km. from our planet. Scientists observed the celestial body for 10 days, after which the asteroid was no longer visible through telescopes.

Based on such a short observation period, it is impossible to accurately determine the distance at which asteroid 2006 QV89 will approach the Earth on 09/09/2019, since the asteroid has not been observed since then (since 2006). Moreover, according to various estimates, the object may approach our planet not on the 9th, but on another date in September 2019.

As for whether 2006 QV89 will collide with Earth on September 9, 2019 or not - the likelihood of a collision is extremely low.

Thus, the Sentry System (developed by the JPL Center for NEO Studies) shows that the probability of a body colliding with the Earth is 1:9100 (those. about one ten thousandth of a percent).

The European Space Agency (ESA) estimates the chance of an asteroid crossing its orbit with our planet as 1 in 7300 (0,00014 % ). ESA placed 2006 QV89 in 4th place among celestial bodies posing a potential danger to Earth. According to the agency, the exact time of “flight” of the body on September 9, 2019 is 10:03 Moscow time.

In both Orthodoxy and Catholicism, Easter always falls on Sunday.

Easter 2020 is preceded by Lent, which begins 48 days before the Holy Day. And after 50 days they celebrate Trinity.

Popular pre-Christian customs that have survived to this day include dyeing eggs, making Easter cakes and curd Easter cakes.

Easter treats are blessed in the church on Saturday, the eve of Easter 2020, or after the service on the day of the Holiday itself.

We should greet each other on Easter with the words “Christ is Risen,” and respond with “Truly He is Risen.”

This will be the fourth game for the Russian team in this qualifying tournament. Let us remind you that in the previous three meetings, Russia “at the start” lost to Belgium with a score of 1:3, and then won two dry victories - over Kazakhstan (4:0) and over San Marino (9:0). The last victory was the largest in the entire existence of the Russian football team.

As for the upcoming meeting, according to bookmakers, the Russian team is the favorite in it. The Cypriots are objectively weaker than the Russians, and the islanders cannot expect anything good from the upcoming match. However, we must take into account that the teams have never met before, and therefore unpleasant surprises may await us.

The Russia-Cyprus meeting will take place on June 11, 2019 In Nizhniy Novgorod at the stadium of the same name, built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Start of the match - 21:45 Moscow time.

Where and what time do the national teams of Russia and Cyprus play:
* Venue of the match - Russia, Nizhny Novgorod.
* Game start time is 21:45 Moscow time.

How to relax during the May holidays

The May holidays are a time to relax in nature. At this time of year, the weather is already warm outside, flowers and trees are blooming.

Fans of active recreation can go with their family or friends to a river, to the forest or to the country. There you can cook food on the fire, play games, sing songs with a guitar.

Those who want to relax in the city can arrange a cultural and entertainment program: go to a cinema or theater, visit museums or exhibitions, or organize shopping.

Travel lovers can plan a trip to another city in Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Suzdal, Yalta, or organize a foreign tour to Turkey, the Czech Republic, Georgia, France, Italy.

On official holidays (May 1 and 9), city residents have the opportunity to enjoy concerts with the participation of famous performers, which take place in the squares.

It is no secret that most workers try to make the most of the first and second May holidays. But you need to prepare for this in advance. In this consultation, we analyze in detail how we rest in May 2018: how many calendar days have been declared official holidays and which Russian Government has approved the transfer of rest days.

Long awaited days

Usually, New Year's holidays and weekends fly by quite quickly, which allow millions of workers to have a wonderful rest. In addition, the combination of weekends and holidays promotes spending time with family and loved ones. In addition, even a minimum number of consecutive days of rest does not exclude unforgettable travel and atmosphere.

Such a wise government decision as postponing weekends and providing the population with adequate rest, taking into account holidays, is repeated more than once every year. Thus, a well-thought-out schedule of missing working days allows you to create additional rest for almost everyone at certain periods of the year.

This year's celebration will be no exception:

  • World Labor Day – May 1;
  • Great Victory Day - May 9.

Victory Day still makes people understand and remember at what cost it was received by the older generations of their family and country.

At the same time, on May 1, many go to the dacha, to their country cottage, to prepare everything for planting a new crop and/or summer vacation. Therefore, it is very important for everyone to understand how we relax on official weekends during the May holidays in 2018.

Weekend calendar in May 2018

For 2018, there is a production calendar that takes into account all official working days, weekends and holidays. It was based on the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated October 14, 2017 No. 1250, which defined the transfer of weekends.

Usually such a calendar is marked:

  • in red - where the transfer and/or combination of holidays and weekends took place in order to ensure proper rest for every working person in Russia;
  • in a different color or with a cross/star – a shortened working day before an official holiday.

The annual May holidays were no exception, which provide an opportunity to fully enjoy the coming spring, contribute to a higher mood, preparing the dacha for summer, etc. They traditionally come together in 2 holidays, which are loved and revered by everyone.

But there is also the other side of the coin: just as we are relaxing during the May holidays in 2018, we are also working off them. Because everything needs balance. Just like in accounting.

May 1 - Spring and Labor Day - fell on a Tuesday in 2018. It will be a holiday day off. It is followed by Wednesday, May 2 - it has been declared a day off due to the postponement of the day off from January 7. The Cabinet of Ministers did not stop there: two more were added to these two weekends – April 29 and 30. April 29 – regular day off – Sunday. But on April 30th (Monday) everyone will have a rest, since they will work it on Saturday - April 28th, but as a shortened day.

Thus, May 2018 provides the opportunity to rest for 4 whole days in a row. Although, this required the transfer of weekends and a 6-day work week.

And if we talk about May 9, then Victory Day fell in the middle of the week - Wednesday. Therefore, on May 8 you can work a little less - for a reduced time. But on May 10th you will have to go to work.

As a result, in the month of May 2018 there will be 4 and 1 days of holiday weekends, respectively. Namely:

  • from April 29 to May 2 inclusive;
  • on May 09.

It is important that the working rhythm will not be lost, so the total number of working days in May 2018 will be 20, and weekends - 11. Among them there will be 2 purely holiday days.

With this schedule, you can immediately determine the working hours for May 2018 (see table):

This table clearly shows that the way we spend the May holidays in 2018 affects the work schedule adopted by the organization.

May 1 – Labor and Spring Day

This holiday almost always allows you to be outside the city and spend more time with friends and family. Many Russians go to their summer cottages to prepare them for planting the future crop and generally spending the summer. And for many, this is an opportunity to simply be in nature, which already delights with its warmth and notes of summer.

It is worth noting that today about 142 countries around the world celebrate this holiday in order to emphasize the importance of every worker and working person. In many cities of Russia on this day, trade unions and large organizations bring their representatives to rallies and marches as a sign of solidarity.

Great Victory Day – May 9

For more than 70 years, Russia and the whole world have been marking the events of the end of World War II, where a serious threat to all humanity was defeated - Nazi Germany and other countries that carried its ideology were destroyed. On this day, military parades and colorful processions of military equipment are held, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability throughout the planet.

The importance of this holiday: not only to show how strong weapons each country has, but also an opportunity to demonstrate concern for freedom and preventing such tragic events from happening again.
