How coconut oil is good for the skin. Using coconut oil for the face Using coconut oil in cosmetology recipes reviews

Coconut oil is something that is definitely worth bringing from Thailand (Asia). This is not only a great gift, but also a real treasure if you know how to use it. And also a real salvation for those who return to Russia after wintering or a long stay in a humid climate. In Russia, coconut oil applied to damp skin while taking a bath or shower is more effective than any body moisturizer for unusual dry skin. (from personal experience, after 5 years of living in the tropics). In general, this post is dedicated to coconut oil - let's discover 100,500 ways to use this miracle for your benefit.

Coconut oil obtained by cold pressing from dried coconut pulp. Coconut oil is enriched with lauric acid (up to 50% in unrefined oil), which enhances metabolic processes in the body.

Appearance: White, creamy liquid; hardens at temperatures below 25 degrees; light coconut aroma.
Chemical composition: Lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, caprylic acid, oleic acid, capric acid, stearic acid, linolenic acid, arachidonic acid, caproic acid.

For me personally, coconut oil has been a real salvation for split ends and brittle hair for a couple of years. You can say a discovery made only in Thailand. But thanks to my miracle hairdresser, I stopped using it almost in time after I had done long-term styling. The point is that It is advisable to apply any oil only to healthy hair.

If your hair is damaged by dyeing or curling, then the oil can be harmful - at least before active use, you should check it and take a closer look at the effect on your hair. This is due to the fact that already dehydrated hair is enveloped in an oil film and has nowhere to take moisture from.

Coconut oil hair mask

Apply a couple of hours before washing your hair or at night. Hindus smear it on their hair all the time, and I, following their example, sometimes leave coconut oil on my hair all night or even a day.

How to apply oil to hair? There are several ways and different sources write differently. In short and to the point:

→each of us has our own hair and skin type, and even if the scalp is oily, then this oil can have 100 different reasons in 100 people. Therefore, there are no uniform recipes for applying coconut oil to hair for all people, but you can find your own recipes through experimentation, using ready-made recipes first and understanding that they can be completely different↓

First use case: Apply coconut oil only to your hair, avoiding the roots and scalp. For long hair, 1-2 tablespoons of oil is enough, which says that it is suitable for hair.

Second option: Rub coconut oil into your scalp, applying it to your hair roots. This mask is not suitable for everyone and you can do it infrequently, but it’s worth a try - personally, my oily scalp feels great after this, plus, if there is no curl, then I apply oil to the entire hair. The mask can be applied a couple of hours before washing your hair, or left overnight. Do it no more than 4 times a month.

Quick hair masks

Even a very good and expensive shampoo deprives hair of shine and “stretches out” structural protein. Coconut oil applied before shower protects hair from the harmful effects of shampoo. Hair is much less damaged during the drying process and when combing.

  1. Quick mask Apply for 30-40 minutes before washing your hair and can consist of pure coconut oil or a mixture of coconut oil and honey.
  2. Mask against hair loss. Add coconut oil to salt and rub the resulting scrub into the scalp before washing for 2-5 minutes. You can make this mask no more than 2 times a week for a month, then take a break for a couple of months. Be sure to look at the effect specifically on your scalp - it is not suitable for everyone.
  3. In shampoo or conditioner. The oil can also be added (a few drops per wash or a couple of spoons in a bottle) to shampoo or balm, and it is not advisable to apply the balm to the roots of the hair, but only to the hair itself, because it clogs the pores.
  4. After washing. Coconut oil dries, nourishes and adds shine to the hair at the same time, so if you apply it to your hair after washing (2-3 drops, avoiding the roots of your hair), your hair will not feel greasy and your thinning ends will be very happy. If you first trim your hair - cut off split ends, then using coconut oil it can stay healthy much longer. Whether this mask is suitable for you should be clear from the first time (it is not suitable for everyone).

Again, I repeat! — Coconut oil is not suitable for everyone; if it is ideal for the body, then for hair I eventually switched to Che or Argan oil. I order them on ebay.com or find them while traveling. In Russia, you can buy moisturizers, shampoos and conditioners with argan oil in professional stores. These oils are applied in small quantities after washing to damp hair.

Coconut oil for face

Refined coconut oil is beneficial for any skin type. It smoothes the skin and the shallow wrinkles present on it, increases the overall tone, firmness and elasticity of the skin. This is an excellent product for caring for dull, sagging and aging skin.

I learned from Indians that they apply coconut oil to their facial skin every day and consider this the secret of youthful skin.

In its pure form, coconut oil has a strong drying effect, but does not dehydrate the skin, but regulates the production of sebum. These qualities are simply irreplaceable when caring for oily skin of the face and scalp. Coconut oil can also treat wounds, various types of dermatitis and long-healing eczema.

Before actively using coconut oil on your skin, make sure you are not allergic to it. Unpleasant sensations may also be associated with the quality of the oil.

Coconut oil face masks:

Only Exrta-vergin Coconut Oil is suitable for facial care!

First of all, I will list recipes from Arina Voronina, a beauty trainer, who says that even having the opportunity to buy expensive creams, she primarily uses coconut oil (her Instagram: @ara_bublik):

Coconut oil instead of cream: rub a drop of oil on your palms and lightly blot your face without rubbing the oil into the skin. After five minutes, blot off the remaining oil with a paper napkin. If the skin is still oily, then use a hot, damp towel.

Mask for the face: apply coconut oil to a cleansed face for 10-15 minutes, after applying a compress from a towel moistened with hot water for a few seconds. You can make such masks 2-3 times a week. Wash off with micellar gel.

Other masks, if you want variety:

  1. To prepare a cream mask with coconut oil, mix 1 tbsp. spoon of sour cream or milk, 1 spoon of honey, 10-15 drops of coconut oil. The finished mixture is applied to the face for 20 minutes, then washed off with warm water.
  2. Apply a mixture of coconut oil and baking soda onto your face with massaging movements, then rinse with warm water.
  3. Apply a mixture of coconut oil and honey to clean facial skin for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. *The mask is considered antibacterial, and honey dilates pores, so you should not use this mask often.
  4. Make neck wraps from pure coconut oil for 20-30 minutes. As a result, the neck skin becomes hydrated and smooth.
  5. It is also useful to make a mask for the face and whole body from a mixture of coconut milk and cow's milk.
  6. Coconut oil can be used to remove makeup and instead of shaving cream (I haven’t tried the latter, but they say it’s good for sensitive skin :).

Coconut oil for body

Research suggests that coconut oil is highly absorbable and quickly absorbed by human skin. Personally, my research says the same thing after every coconut oil bath. Coconut oil perfectly moisturizes, tones and softens the skin, making it velvety and very pleasant. The thin film formed on the skin protects it from the harmful effects of the environment, so coconut oil in creams or in its pure form can act as sunscreen. It is recommended to use it before and after sunbathing. This helps to avoid sunburn and get an even, beautiful tan.

Coconut oil can also be used in the care of sensitive, inflamed and irritated skin, because... it has good anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and soothing effects. Including after hair removal.

Moisturizing dry body skin

The most important thing for me personally is to moisturize dry skin with coconut oil while taking a bath or shower. This is especially true if you lived in Thailand for a long time and came to Russia (winter workers will understand).

In principle, I never come from tropical countries into the cold without coconut oil!

  1. Moisturizing the skin after a shower. Enough to moisturize the skin after a shower pour 1 tablespoon of oil into your palm and apply to damp skin immediately after a shower or right while taking it with massaging movements. Then wipe the skin with a towel.
  2. Baths with coconut oil. You can add a tablespoon of coconut oil to your bath water. If the skin is very dry, the amount of oil can be increased.

For me personally, no moisturizing cream can compare with the effect of regular coconut oil in combating dry skin in Siberia in winter.

Cleansing and moisturizing the skin

Mixing coconut oil with salt or brown sugar makes a great moisturizing body scrub.

Can be used on the entire body or on areas with rough skin, e.g. for dry skin on elbows.

Coconut oil for cuticles

Rubbing the oil into the skin around the nail plates moisturizes and helps get rid of flaking and dry cuticles.

To moisturize the skin of the feet

If you massage and cleanse the skin of your feet using coconut oil, it becomes softer and softer.

External use for problems

  1. Candidiasis, thrush. Coconut oil, as I already wrote, has an antibacterial effect and can be used as an adjuvant in the treatment of yeast infections. Coconut oil can be lightly soaked in tampons or applied to the skin as an ointment 1-2 times a day.
  2. For microcracks in the anus.

Coconut oil for internal use

Scientific studies have shown that lauric acid in coconut oil is ideal for maintaining cholesterol levels within a normal range.

Coconut oil has a lot of beneficial properties and prescriptions for use in a variety of diseases: it improves digestion and mental activity. Consuming coconut oil internally helps reduce the risk of developing atherosclerosis, heart disease and cancer; the body becomes resistant to viral diseases and all kinds of infections, due to the fact that the oil strengthens the immune system and at the same time reduces the ability of viruses to adapt to antibiotics. Coconut oil promotes the absorption of calcium and magnesium and is not stored in the human body as fat, unlike many other oils.

Natural coconut oil is one of the most harmless and safe officially registered dietary supplements with no known side effects.

How to use coconut oil internally?

Coconut oil comes in varying degrees of purification and for internal use you need to look for and buy oil that says "can be taken internally".

For food:

  1. Add coconut oil to salads instead of sunflower or olive oil.
  2. Use for preparing fried foods.
  3. Add to tea, coffee, smoothies (a few drops).
  4. Blend the nuts and coconut oil in a blender or coffee grinder to create homemade nut butter.

Internal uses of coconut oil for health:

  1. You can drink coconut oil in its pure form, starting with 1 teaspoon per day and increasing the “dose” to 2-3 tablespoons per day (before meals), washing it down with the required amount of water.
  2. Tea with a few drops of coconut oil relieves throat irritation when coughing.
  3. To cleanse the mouth and whiten teeth, it is recommended to keep 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil in your mouth daily for 10 minutes (if you tried this recipe, write about your experience in the comments - I still don’t dare to do this :)

Coconut oil: reviews

I’ll write my personal review about coconut oil here and will be glad to see your feedback in the comments (you don’t need to register to leave a comment: just share your experience and everyone will be happy :)↓

Since I travel a lot and often live for a long time in countries of Southeast Asia with high humidity, upon returning to Siberia and after a sharp climate change, I simply cannot do without coconut oil.

First of all, I use coconut oil to soften the skin and today it is the best remedy for dry skin of the whole body. Better than expensive creams and moisturizers.

I gradually stopped using it for my hair, because I stopped noticing the special effect, or even vice versa - the effect of drying my hair and unpleasant sensations appeared, but most likely this is due to the fact that I did long-term styling and ruined my hair with it. Many of my friends use coconut oil for their hair even after coloring (although applying oil to damaged hair is not recommended) and are delighted with this product.

Coconut occupies a special place among oilseed crops. The reason for this is the famous oil extracted from the aromatic pulp of the nut. This product turned out to be so unique that it has found application in everyday life, cooking, medicine and, of course, cosmetology. Women all over the world have long and successfully used it for the beauty of their skin and hair, and the cosmetic industry adds coconut product to various decorative and care products for the face and body.

Benefits of coconut oil for the face

It is impossible to establish with certainty who and when first began to use coconut oil for the skin, but it was mentioned as a medicinal and cosmetic product in the ancient treatises of Ayurveda. Modern science has also not ignored it, and it has now been proven that it exhibits antiviral and antimicrobial properties, slows down aging mechanisms, heals, protects from the sun, softens and moisturizes the skin.

Important! It should be especially noted that the product is suitable for any skin, even the most sensitive, as well as those prone to excessive dryness or oiliness, irritation, redness, and allergies.

Composition of the product

The comprehensive cosmetic effect of the oil is due to its chemical structure. Nature has created a truly unique product, which contains many saturated acids, vitamins, macro- and microelements necessary to maintain the skin in ideal condition. The most important of them:

  • lauric acid (approximately 50%, depending on the method of preparation). This is a natural antiseptic that destroys various pathogenic microorganisms, including fungus, and also eliminates age spots and activates the regenerative functions of the skin, helping to increase elasticity and speedy healing of wounds. Effectively eliminates acne and even boils;
  • myristic acid (20%). It helps the active components of cosmetic products penetrate deeper into the epidermis and strengthens local immunity;
  • palmitic acid (9%). Promotes rapid cell renewal, increases elasticity, whitens;
  • oleic acid (6%). Helps retain moisture and strengthen barrier functions, neutralizes the harmful effects of free radicals;
  • capric acid (5%). Has antibacterial properties and enhances the effect of lauric acid;
  • caprylic acid (6%). Restores the acid-base balance and promotes better absorption of oxygen, thereby rejuvenating cells. Regulates the activity of the sebaceous glands;
  • vitamins A, E, C, some B vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, iron. All of them are in one way or another involved in the rejuvenation and healing of the skin: they protect, enhance regenerative properties, stimulate collagen production and smooth out wrinkles, fight inflammation.

What is coconut oil used for?

Residents of countries where the coconut palm grows don’t call it the tree of life for nothing. Thanks to the tropical nut, these people enjoy excellent health, but numerous studies suggest that the palm tree can also be called a tree of beauty. The finished product has the following properties:

  • rejuvenates, slows down aging. The complex effect of active substances is aimed at maintaining elasticity, so the product is often used in the care of mature skin. Regular use will maintain elasticity, improve color, and tighten the oval of the face;
  • treats inflammation. The antibacterial effect makes the product indispensable for getting rid of acne, because unlike many pharmaceutical drugs, it does not dry or irritate the skin, but, on the contrary, cares for it;
  • softens, thanks to which it can relieve dryness and flaking, as well as improve the condition of rough areas;
  • soothes, therefore suitable for oily skin, including those prone to irritation. The product is quickly absorbed, reduces redness, normalizes sebum production;
  • protects against sun and photoaging. This quality makes coconut oil an important ingredient in commercial sunscreens. If necessary, it can be used in its pure form, but remember that SPF 6–7 is not enough for prolonged exposure to the sun.

Cosmetologists' opinion

Cosmetologists, being people of science, simply do not take anything for granted: all statements about the benefits of oil must have reliable evidence. In the second half of the 20th century, in the wake of increased interest in the product, many studies were conducted confirming its positive effect on the skin.

The result of such active scientific activity has been the emergence of many cosmetic products, the composition of which is enriched with tropical nut oil. These are face and body creams, lip balms, sunscreen ointments, deodorants, shaving products, makeup removers, and fight against stretch marks and age spots. In addition, the product is included in massage mixtures as a component that relieves muscle tension and cares for the skin.

Reference! According to the US Federal Service for Control over Quality of Food, Drugs and Cosmetic Products, coconut oil was included in 626 cosmetic products in 2007.

Studies have also confirmed that the product applied to the skin in its pure form is absolutely safe: non-toxic, does not cause irritation and is only rarely accompanied by a mild allergic reaction. Considering all of the above, now even the most careful cosmetologists advise using coconut oil to protect, heal and rejuvenate the skin.

This can be done in different ways, the main thing is to observe moderation and combine it with other caring products. In addition, experts emphasize that natural remedies cannot overnight cope with global problems such as deep wrinkles or acne. Therefore, you should not expect miracles from coconut oil alone; it will have to be used in combination with other measures.

Historical fact! In the middle of the last century, oil was considered harmful, however, it was a question of eating it. They began to feed them to cows, but farmers noticed that the animals did not gain weight, remained active and had a good appetite. This interested scientists and provoked another surge of interest in the product. Thus, many beneficial properties of coconut were discovered, including cosmetic ones, but echoes of previous beliefs are still found. Among them, for example, is the belief that this product clogs pores, does not allow the skin to breathe, and is difficult to wash off.

Which is better for use: solid or liquid?

The first thing you should pay attention to when choosing is the spin cycle. It can be cold or hot. The second important point is refining. The combination of the type of pressing and subsequent processing allows us to distinguish four types of product.

Unrefined cold pressed oil. This method of extraction is the most gentle; after it, the maximum of useful substances is retained with a small yield of the final product. Thus, from a thousand nuts with a total weight of about one and a half tons, approximately 70 liters of high-quality oil can be obtained. The label with such a product is marked Virgin or Extra Virgin.

Unrefined oil in liquid form has a pale yellow color, but turns white when solidified. It smells pleasant of coconut and contains the maximum amount of valuable components, so experts recommend adding it to homemade masks, creams, and lotions. However, it is not advisable to apply it directly to the face, since the product has not undergone additional cleaning and can clog pores.

Unrefined hot pressed oil. The nut pulp is first dried, and then the oil is extracted by pressing or using chemical agents. The yield of the final product is greater, but some of the valuable ingredients are lost during processing of the raw materials. On packaging with this product they simply write Coconut Oil.

This variety should also not be used in its pure form, but it is suitable for hair or softening rough, cracked areas of skin.

Refined hot pressed oil. The essence of the refining process is that some salts, minerals, metals, and free fatty acids are removed from the product using water and chemicals. The resulting substance is stored longer, has virtually no color and a characteristic coconut smell. The packaging is marked Refined or RBD.

This product is less useful, but is considered safer, so even in its pure form it is suitable for the skin of the face, including the area around the eyes.

Refined cold pressed oil. Cold-pressed oil is also refined, but this is done in a special, delicate way, the purpose of which is to purify the product while preserving most of the beneficial ingredients. This is the most expensive variety, used only for cosmetic purposes and suitable for application to the skin in its pure form.

There is also technical coconut oil (labeled Crude). It is the cheapest, but is generally not suitable for the skin or for consumption.

Important! Coconut oil belongs to the category of solid oils, as it thickens and hardens at 24–25 °C. At higher temperatures it becomes liquid, so it melts directly on the skin.

Unrefined oil is fattier and more viscous; refined oil remains liquid a little longer, but any coconut oil hardens when cooled. Such changes in physical states do not affect the quality and beneficial properties.

How can you use the product in facial skin care?

Since the product is able to solve various skin problems, there are many recipes for its use.

Oil instead of cream

Owners of any skin type can use refined oil instead of their regular cream. This will increase elasticity, smooth out small wrinkles, and improve complexion.

Evening care. An hour before bedtime, wash your face in your usual way; if desired, you can replace the water with a decoction of medicinal herbs. After washing, pat your skin dry with a towel, but do not wipe. Apply a few drops of oil to the face, neck and décolleté, massage lightly, remove excess with a napkin. The oil film with this method of application retains moisture, but allows the skin to breathe.

Morning care. Half an hour before applying makeup, spread a small amount of product over the skin.

As a cream around the eyes. Apply a drop of oil to the eyelid area and use your fingertips to gently tap until completely absorbed. This light massage will help get rid of crow's feet, swelling and dark circles.

Important! Coconut oil mostly consists of saturated fatty acids, so it is advisable to alternate it with liquid cosmetic oils, the chemical structure of which is dominated by unsaturated acids. This way the skin will receive the maximum of nutrients it needs. The optimal frequency of use instead of cream is two to three times a week.

In case of increased dryness, flaking or chapping, daily use of the oil is allowed, but not longer than 7-10 days in a row. If during this period the skin does not return to order, then after a week you can repeat the course of oil therapy.

Recipes for masks with coconut oil

Masks with exotic nut oil will improve the condition of the skin when it looks dull, tired, has wrinkles or inflammation. If there are no obvious problems, then the remedy will be an excellent way to prevent them. General rules for using masks: conduct an allergy test and apply the prepared mixtures to clean skin. The effect of the procedure will increase if you steam your face first.

For oily skin. Mix according to Art. l. honey and sour cream, pour tsp. coconut oil The duration of the mask is 20 minutes.

For normal skin. Mix baking soda with oil to form a moderately thick paste that will not run off your face. Distribute over the skin, massage for a couple of minutes, and rinse after 7-10.

For dry skin. One chicken yolk and 1 tsp. Mix the oil and white clay until smooth, apply for 12–15 minutes.

Important! Masks with tropical nut oil are used no more than twice a week so as not to overload the skin.

Application options for wrinkles

Gelatin mask, suitable for dry skin. Pour 1 tbsp. l. gelatin 4 tbsp. l. cold water. When it swells, heat until completely dissolved, best in a water bath. Add 1 tbsp. l. oil, quickly mix everything and distribute over the face. Leave for 20 minutes. If necessary, sprinkle with water so that the drying gelatin does not tighten the skin.

Clay mask, suitable for oily skin. Dilute 2 tbsp. l. yellow clay with melted butter, achieving the consistency of sour cream. You can add a couple of drops of tea tree ether. Leave for 20 minutes, then rinse with acidified water and wipe the skin with tonic to remove small particles of clay.

Acne remedies

Pure unrefined oil consists of at least half an antibacterial substance, so it can be used to treat areas with local inflammation. Small pimples can be eliminated in just a couple of days. Problematic skin prone to acne requires a different approach: therapeutic masks with coconut oil will help. They should be done three times a week until optimal results are achieved.

Important! For this skin type, only cosmetic oil is suitable. This product can be purchased at a pharmacy.

Recipe 1. Pour 2 tbsp. l. rice flour with warm chamomile infusion and stir to form a fairly thick paste. Add 1 tsp. coconut oil and 3 drops of tea tree ether, leave on face for 15 minutes.

Recipe 2. Dilute 2 tbsp with chamomile decoction. l. blue clay to form a thick paste. Add 1 tsp. oils and three drops of lemon essential oil. Mix everything, apply to the skin, rinse after 15 minutes.

Recipe 3. Mix 3 tbsp. l. kefir, 1 tbsp. l. regular yeast (not dry), 1 tbsp. l. coconut oil and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Let it brew (so that the mixture foams a little), apply a thick layer to the face and rinse after 15 minutes.

Coconut oil for facial massage

Massage with coconut oil is a very beneficial procedure. This is a guaranteed way to even out your complexion, strengthen its contours, and smooth out small wrinkles.

This massage can be performed independently. The technique is simple: first you need to wash your face, then take a steam bath or hot compress to warm up the facial muscles. Afterwards, dip your fingertips into liquid (pre-melted) oil and distribute in the direction of the massage lines with gentle stroking movements.

Your fingers should glide over the skin without stretching it, so several pumps of oil will be needed. At the end of the procedure, its remains are not washed off, but blotted with a napkin. The duration of one session is usually 10–15 minutes, and it is best to perform it in the evening, about an hour and a half before bedtime. The course is 10 days, after which a two-week break is required.

What else can the product be useful for?

Coffee scrub. Mix the oil (even unrefined oil) with ground coffee in a ratio of 1:2, use twice a week. This scrub can be prepared for future use and refrigerated.

Neck wrap. The neck, no less than the face, needs saving from wrinkles, and coconut oil will come to its aid. Moisten a towel with hot water, wring it out, wrap it around your neck, trying to cover the décolleté area. When the compress begins to cool, repeat 2-3 more times to warm up the skin. Then blot it and apply a generous portion of oil along the massage lines. Wrap the oiled areas with cling film, insulate with a scarf and leave for 20 minutes, after which remove the remaining oil with a napkin.

A remedy for dry chapped lips.

Before going to bed, apply coconut oil to your lips and, if possible, leave it until the morning. By the way, the product is also suitable for treating herpes!

Possible harm

Most studies conducted on volunteers confirm that the oil is safe for internal and external use, although in rare cases an allergic reaction may occur. To rule it out, you need to do a standard allergy test: apply a little product to the inside of your wrist or behind your ear. If no discomfort occurs after a day, you can safely use the oil.

The second potential danger is comedogenicity. Practice shows that this is a subjective reaction: some people can tolerate even unrefined coconut oil, while for others even cosmetic oil can clog their pores from the first use. The truth can only be found out experimentally, and if the skin says “No!”, then it is better not to contradict it and stop using the product.

The third caution relates to excessive use. Excess fat disrupts the secretion of the sebaceous glands and interferes with the normal functioning of epidermal cells, so abuse of even such a beneficial substance as coconut oil can cause harm instead of benefit. To avoid this, it is necessary to follow recommendations on the frequency of use of the oil and various mixtures in which it is included, and also monitor the skin reaction.

Coconut oil is a natural product suitable for complete care of the skin of the body and face. The valuable components in its composition help fight stretch marks, moisturize and nourish the skin, give elasticity to the skin and heal wounds.

Coconut oil: composition, properties, benefits and harm

One of the most popular cosmetics is extracted from coconut pulp, dried, crushed and squeezed out the oil. In its unrefined form, it is solid and begins to melt only at a temperature of 25 degrees.

Coconut oil is extracted from the pulp of the fruit

The refined light yellow product has virtually no odor. Cold-pressed oil is considered the most useful, as it retains the maximum amount of nutrients. The composition is represented by a whole complex of minerals, vitamins and organic acids.

Effect of components on the skin:

  • Vitamin B eliminates acne, relieves inflammation, and slows down the natural aging process.
  • Organic acids (lauric, myristic, palmitic) maintain tissue elasticity, accelerate collagen production, and protect against pathogenic microorganisms.
  • Vitamin C gives a boost of energy, refreshes and tones.
  • Iron, calcium, magnesium and other minerals restore fat and water metabolism.
  • Tocopherol and niacin have regenerative and tonic properties.

An exotic oily product is an ideal component for caring creams, lotions, shampoos, gels and soaps.

Ideal ingredient for cosmetics

Many countries are engaged in the production of herbal compositions, but the most famous are products from Thailand and Sri Lanka.

Beneficial properties for face and body:

  • effective protection against UV rays;

The harm from a natural product is minimal. It is not recommended to overuse coconut oil for those with oily skin, as it can lead to clogged pores. In addition, you should be careful if you have skin pathologies of an oncological nature and if you are allergic to the components of the composition.

Using coconut oil for face and body

Coconut oil is widely used in cosmetology due to its valuable properties and composition rich in vitamins and minerals. It is added to body and face creams, eyelid care products, formulations for strengthening breast skin, and hair balms. The herbal product is one of the main ingredients in pre- and after-sun lotions. • to protect the skin from frost and strong wind.

The oil perfectly removes makeup, providing a moisturizing and toning effect. It can be used instead of lip balm, used as an oil for massage and relaxation.

The peculiarity of oil is that it quickly passes from a liquid to a solid state. It depends on the temperature in which it is located. So, at 25˚C the consistency becomes thick, color and transparency are lost. When the temperature drops to 0˚C it turns into a solid state.

What oil is used for the face?

Unrefined coconut oil clogs your pores. This is especially harmful for oily skin. It's better to cook it. In this form, it is used for elbows and heels, in places where the skin has become rough and covered with cracks.

Refined oil has slightly less beneficial qualities, but its use has a beneficial effect on the face. Almost does not cause an allergic reaction. It does not need to be heated over a fire, since it becomes liquid already at a temperature of 18˚C. To use, take a small piece of the ingredient and knead it in your hand. It immediately becomes soft. Next you need to apply a thin layer to your face.

The ingredient is mixed with essential oils, cosmetic creams, tonics, lotions, milk, in a ratio of 1:3.

Face scrub with coconut oil

  • 10 g coconut oil;
  • 10 g natural honey;

How often can you use coconut oil on your face?

Indian women use coconut oil every day. It is believed that this way they retain youth for a long time.

For women who have delicate and white skin, this method is not suitable. For coconut oil to have an effect, it is enough to use masks, scrubs, or simply wipe the skin with a piece of solid oil, 1 or 2 times a week. If you do the procedures more often, rashes and inflammation may appear. In addition, instead of moisturizing, frequent use can cause the opposite effect: the skin will become drier and more susceptible to inflammatory processes.

Many experts sing the praises of coconut oil, while others believe that this popular product is not as good for consumption as previously thought.

But it is safe to say that coconut oil is one of the most effective natural skin care products.

From this article you will learn everything about using coconut oil for the face. Let's talk about the benefits and harms of coconut oil, how to use it on the face.

Coconut oil for the face: benefits and harms

Coconut oil is predominantly saturated fat, which restores the skin's natural barrier and absorbs moisture.

Lauric, capric and caprylic acids, which are also found in coconut oil, help fight any bacteria.

The vitamin E in the oil not only keeps the skin smooth but also helps prevent premature aging and wrinkles of the skin thanks to its antioxidants.

Coconut oil deeply cleanses the skin, softening it and opening pores. It penetrates deep into the skin where it dissolves hardened oil and sebum.

It then brings these substances to the surface, where they can be easily washed off. This helps prevent the formation of wrinkles.

Coconut oil can make your skin supple, hydrated and glowing.

Coconut oil prevents wrinkles by helping collagen.

Collagen plays an important role in prevention as it provides support to the upper layers of the skin. But when it begins to break down, your skin can sag and wrinkle.

The fat molecules in coconut oil can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, attract protein molecules (the building blocks of collagen) and help repair damaged collagen and normalize its production.

When not to use coconut oil

If your pores get clogged easily and blackheads are your bane, avoid coconut oil, which is considered one of the most comedogenic oils. It can clog pores.

Coconut oil is antibacterial, which is helpful for acne, but long-term use can make the skin worse.

It is also possible to be allergic to coconut oil. It may cause a rash.

Here are some more ways to use coconut oil on your face.

Ideal moisturizer

Our skin naturally produces sebum. It lubricates the skin and hair and prevents fungal and bacterial infections.

However, the production process may be disrupted. Using coconut oil as a moisturizer can help the skin restore this natural chemical barrier.

Coconut oil also exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells, leaving your skin softer.

It contains a large amount of vitamin E, which is necessary to restore the skin and prevent premature aging.

After cleansing your skin, use coconut oil as a moisturizer, massaging it onto your face, neck and décolleté.

Shaving gel

Read the ingredients in your shaving cream: alcohols, chemicals and dyes. Your skin probably won't like it.

There is a healthier option. Coconut oil provides a smooth and slippery texture that your razor and skin love.

You will need:

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil;
  • 1/4 cup aloe vera;
  • 4-6 drops essential oil (eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint or lemon)

Be sure to melt the coconut oil first and then combine it with aloe vera gel and essential oil of your choice. Mix thoroughly and store in an airtight container.

Makeup remover

According to dermatologists, coconut oil is an effective way to remove makeup after a long day. Even waterproof mascara can't resist it.

The oil contains vitamins and minerals that stimulate eyelash growth!

To use oil to remove makeup, simply rub it into your palms to warm and liquefy, then begin massaging into your face to slowly dissolve dirt. Rinse with warm water.

If the makeup is not completely removed, repeat.

Eye cream

Coconut oil is ideal for the sensitive eye area. It protects against damage and prevents wrinkles.

Gently apply a little coconut oil around your eyes before going to bed.

Coconut scrub

If you suffer from dry or dull skin, use a coconut scrub.

Add salt or sugar to a spoon of coconut oil. You will get a scrub for the body and face.

Coconut oil for teeth whitening

Mix six tablespoons of coconut oil with the same amount of baking soda and add about 20 drops of essential oil of your choice.

Mix it all together, store it in a jar, apply it to your teeth and watch how.

Coconut oil for eyebrows

If you want to regrow your plucked eyebrows, apply oil to them before going to bed. It nourishes the skin and stimulates hair growth.

After sun lotion

I don't recommend using coconut oil as a sunscreen because it has a relatively low SPF of 3 or 4.

It is best used as an after-sun lotion to hydrate and soothe tanned skin.

If you suffer from sunburn, apply a little coconut oil to the affected areas to reduce inflammation and pain.

Lip gel

Cracked lips can be a source of anxiety, discomfort and embarrassment. You can apply a chemical gel, but then toxins can enter the intestines.

Some types of gels are edible, but you still don't want to eat those chemicals. Coconut oil is an ideal alternative in such cases. It acts quickly and even if you swallow it, it will only benefit you.
