Oregano has medicinal properties for pregnant women. Dangerous herbs during pregnancy! How to prepare a decoction of oregano for hair during pregnancy

Oregano (lat. Origanum vulgare) is a perennial herbaceous plant from the Lamiaceae family, which has a pleasant aroma and light lilac color.

Like many other plants, oregano has a lot of names - chives, mother grass, female grass, oregano, bee-lover, spirit flower, bedbug, macerdushka, flea beetle, etc.

Oregano grows as a bush that can reach 80-90 cm in length. The plant blooms in mid-summer - late July and early August. You can see the motherboard anywhere - on the side of the road, in the forest, field, on the slopes of valleys, along the river, in gardens, etc.

This distribution is due to the absolute unpretentiousness of oregano; it, like a weed, takes root almost everywhere.

Motherwort is used in cooking as an original seasoning for various first and second courses of meat, fish, vegetables, and is also used in folk and traditional medicine.

This plant has a pleasant piquant taste, helps improve appetite, which is why many people love and actively use it. The Slavs use oregano to brew herbal tea, or drink tea from the mother in its pure form.

What is the use of oregano?

The chemical composition of this modest flower includes tannins, vitamins B and C, flavonoids, phytoncides, essential oils that contain phenols, and it can also have an antimicrobial effect.

Thanks to this composition, the motherboard has the following healing properties:

  • normalizes metabolism;
  • stimulates appetite, normalizes digestion;
  • helps reduce cough, improves sputum production;
  • calms the nervous system, helps with insomnia and stress;
  • has anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, hemostatic, antiseptic, analgesic, diuretic and choleretic effects.

Oregano tea and tinctures are prescribed for radiculitis, atherosclerosis, bronchitis, colds, pneumonia, gastritis, cystitis, kidney disease, painful menstruation, central nervous system disorders, constipation, gingivitis, pharyngitis and other diseases.

Many women who are in an “interesting” situation are interested in whether oregano can be used by pregnant women? And these fears are not accidental - the whole point is that this cute flower has long been used by healers as an abortifacient.

Let's find out if this is really the case.

Oregano during pregnancy: is it possible or not?

In addition to individual intolerance to the mother's milk, the main contraindication to its use is pregnancy.

This aromatic herb should not be taken orally during pregnancy, and especially in the early stages (in the first and second trimesters). The thing is that the substances contained in the mother's mother increase the tone of the uterus and lead to termination of pregnancy.

For the fetus itself, oregano is completely safe and does not cause defects in its development.

That is why gynecologists categorically forbid expectant mothers in an “interesting” situation from drinking infusions, decoctions of the mother’s mother, and even adding dry oregano, which is part of many combined seasonings, to the first and second courses.

It is quite possible that a young and strong female body during pregnancy can cope with a small dose of the substance found in the grass without negative consequences. And probably among your acquaintances there is at least one woman who claims that consuming products with the addition of mother’s milk did not cause any harm during gestation.

However, it is absolutely impossible to take risks in matters concerning the life and health of the child, especially for women at risk (suffering from gestosis, uterine tone), as well as pregnant women under 20 and over 33 years of age.

Many lovers of herbal teas are interested in the question: can pregnant women drink tea with the addition of oregano?

The answer to this question cannot be called unambiguous. If the tea contains real mother tea or its extract, it is better to avoid such a drink, giving preference to other herbal teas.

But flavored tea, which does not contain real oregano, is completely harmless for pregnant women. But at the same time, it is necessary to realize that everything that the expectant mother eats is passed on to the baby. And “stuffing” a vulnerable fetus with artificial products is, to say the least, unreasonable.

However, the absolute ban on products with oregano during pregnancy (tea, decoction, tinctures, seasonings) applies only to internal use.

But this ban does not apply to certain external methods of use.

When can oregano herb be useful for pregnant women?

For external use, pregnant women are allowed to use a decoction of the mother. It is not difficult to prepare such a medicine. Pour 20 g of chopped dry herb into 120 ml of boiling water, simmer in a water bath for about 16-17 minutes, then remove from heat, cover and wait another 50 minutes. After the herb has infused, strain it through clean gauze and add a little more clean boiled water to bring the volume to the original 120 ml.

You can store the product for no more than a day, preferably in a cool place, for example, in the refrigerator.

Motherwort decoction is an excellent remedy for treating various skin rashes, which, as you know, suffer from many expectant mothers. You can use it to wash your face or simply wipe your face over problem areas with a cotton swab dipped in the broth.

If you often suffer from headaches, after washing your hair, rinse your hair with the decoction.

This, among other things, helps strengthen the curls and prevents their loss.

This remedy also helps with diseases of the oral cavity - gingivitis, stomatitis, pharyngitis. Rinse your mouth several times a day after meals without swallowing any liquid.

For rhinitis (runny nose) and nasal congestion, it is recommended to sniff crushed dry flowers of the motherwort. It also helps relieve headaches and fatigue.

The essential oil of the herb can be used for aromatherapy - it helps to calm down, relax, and reduce the manifestations of acute respiratory diseases.

For an aroma lamp, 3-4 drops of the substance will be enough, and for a medallion - 1-2 drops.

But you can’t apply oregano essential oil to your skin during pregnancy (especially in the early stages), as it is absorbed quite quickly and enters the bloodstream.

Oregano is a herb that grows in meadows. Its other name is motherboard. It is widely used for infertility, as well as for the treatment of many gynecological diseases, which subsequently simplifies the process of conception and has a good effect on the woman’s body. This herb received its second name due to its unique healing qualities. However, it is strictly forbidden to be taken orally by pregnant women; it can only be used as an external remedy, as well as as an aromatherapy remedy.

Is oregano acceptable during early pregnancy?

This herb can cause uterine bleeding in a pregnant woman, leading to miscarriage or premature birth. In addition, it is not recommended to take it for home abortion, as there can be very serious consequences.

Oregano can be taken externally as decoctions and infusions, as this remedy helps:

  • Improve the condition of the skin;
  • Eliminate headaches;
  • Make hair thicker and silkier.

For severe throbbing headaches, you can put a compress or lotion soaked in oregano decoction on your forehead. You can grind dried oregano flowers and inhale their aroma. This is a very good remedy that will help you quickly get rid of a runny nose. If you have a prolonged painful cough or sore throat, you can rinse your mouth with an infusion of oregano, however, it is important to ensure that not a single drop gets inside.

Essential oils should not be applied to the skin, as they can be absorbed into the blood, which is very dangerous for the condition of the pregnant woman and the unborn child.

The use of oregano in the early stages has its own specific characteristics. In the first trimester, the fetus develops its brain and nervous system, which is why any influence on these processes is extremely undesirable, as it can be very detrimental to the fetus. In this regard, doctors try to limit the intake of medications as much as possible during this period.

Oregano in early pregnancy can cause:

  • Uterine bleeding;
  • Miscarriage;
  • Disturbances in a child.

Important! You can drink tea with oregano during pregnancy only in that isolated case if the benefits significantly outweigh the risks. You can use this herb as an external remedy, however, provided that the tone of the uterus does not increase. If this happens, you need to consult a doctor.

Tea with oregano is very useful for a nursing mother, as it increases lactation and also prevents allergies in the child. However, you must carefully follow the instructions for use and consult your doctor first, as various side effects may occur. The ban on medicines made from oregano is associated with its effect on the muscles of the uterus, since the plant provokes its contraction and bleeding, and this is a real threat of miscarriage or premature birth if taken in late pregnancy. Its use as a seasoning is not recommended. It is worth considering that it is part of the oregano spice. An infusion can be used as an external remedy. To do this, brew the dry herb with a glass of boiling water and infuse it.

It is worth remembering that when drinking oregano tea you always want to sleep and want to do stretches all the time. That is why you should not abuse this drink.

Reviews: oregano and tansy for abortion

Reviews about oregano as a means of abortion are quite ambiguous, since for some this remedy helps, for some it does not cause any results, and some note the presence of serious complications.

There are many abortifacient herbs, such as:

  • Tansy;
  • Elecampane;
  • Parsley.

Matryoshka, or oregano as it is also called, is one of these herbs. After they are taken internally, the uterus rejects the fetus. The mechanism of action of the abortifacient herbs used in each specific case is completely different, however, they often lead to abortion.

Abortion using medicinal herbs is not so reliable and does not always give a positive result, however, many have thus managed to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy.

The principle of action of all abortifacient herbs is approximately the same, however, some of them provoke the death of the fetus, and some increase the tone of the uterus. Plants containing alkaloids are used even in later stages, as well as during childbirth, to stimulate labor. However, their use requires special caution, as they can provoke intoxication and even death of the mother.

Using oregano to terminate pregnancy

For many women, the news of pregnancy is not so joyful. There are many methods to get rid of pregnancy at the earliest stages.

Namely, such as:

  • Abortion;
  • Medications;
  • Folk remedies.

Oregano is considered one of these fairly effective folk remedies, however, when using it, all precautions must be taken, since it is a very dangerous plant. Oregano is a plant widely used in folk medicine. It has many useful qualities, however, there are also certain contraindications. In particular, it is prohibited to take products based on this plant during pregnancy. This plant is taken to terminate pregnancy at home, however, this is not advisable, as it can cause severe bleeding and sometimes even infection of the uterine lining. In any case, after a failed abortion you will have to go to the hospital.

You can use a decoction or infusion of oregano to provoke a miscarriage for up to 10 weeks from the moment of conception.

During this period, the embryo is still very small and not very strongly attached, therefore, there is a high chance of getting a positive result. For the child himself, oregano is not so dangerous. It helps to increase the tone of the uterus, resulting in bleeding and expulsion of the fetus from the uterine cavity. If the bleeding is very severe, you should immediately consult a doctor. When performing an abortion, you must then do a control ultrasound, as additional curettage of the uterine cavity may be required.

This is a very good product that helps:

  • Eliminate menstrual irregularities;
  • Normalize health during menopause;
  • Improves hair condition and treats dandruff;
  • Calms nerves and helps get rid of insomnia.

In addition, the decoction can be used to treat wounds and abscesses. This remedy promotes their rapid healing. To prepare a decoction, pour two tablespoons of dry herb into a glass of boiling water, leave for an hour, then strain and take throughout the day. To enhance the healing properties, you can keep the decoction in a water bath for an hour.

You can use these oils only for aromatherapy, which will help calm and relax in case of nervous disorders. In the most extreme cases, you can use oregano oils for otitis media and ear pain, but only with a single use (drop one drop into the ear or place a cotton swab soaked in oil in the sink). This procedure is only permissible once, since oils can penetrate the skin and cause obvious harm to the woman’s health, as well as the unborn child.

Oregano can also be safely used as aromatherapy in the form of dried flowers and leaves, placed in fabric bags and hung in the bedroom. This will help you calm down and fall asleep faster.

Oregano in the first trimester

Exclude those cases where the benefit outweighs the harm to the unborn child. Oregano causes uterine bleeding, which is extremely dangerous and harms both the expectant mother and the child.

Taking oregano in the second and third trimester

During this period of time, only external use and aromatherapy are allowed. Do not take oregano internally.
During periods of nervous anxiety and depression, taking oregano in the form of tea and tinctures is recommended only after the birth of a child. Also, after childbirth, oregano is recommended for mothers to increase the amount and richness of milk, and is a prevention of allergic reactions in the baby.

How to use oregano during pregnancy

So, we found out that it is not recommended to use oregano during pregnancy orally at any stage. Otherwise, there is no one hundred percent guarantee that the pregnancy will end in a successful delivery on time, and no harm will be caused to the unborn baby.
If the tone of the uterus is increased, then external use should be limited in order to avoid consequences. Oregano is a very beneficial plant for many aspects of the body, but during pregnancy, use it only externally, in the form of lotions and compresses.

Take responsibility for your pregnancy, because you are responsible not only for yourself, but also for the health of your unborn baby.
