Snowflakes made of satin ribbons. Master Class. Snowflake kanzashi - master class Snowflake kanzashi master

Outside the window the snow sparkles, shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow, snowflakes are falling from the sky, it seems that Santa Claus himself is about to come. And on New Year’s Eve, he always comes to the children for matinees and holidays, for street celebrations and for theatrical performances. You should definitely prepare for a matinee or school holiday, buy a new dress, choose a hairstyle, and choose exquisite winter accessories.

A snowflake made of ribbons made using the kanzashi technique, which can rightfully be called a winter flower, can be a wonderful hair decoration. Firstly, it is made of the thinnest satin ribbons, modeled from specially shaped petals, and secondly, it really looks like a snowflake due to the fittings and shape matching the color. You can easily make a couple of hairpins with snowflakes using the master class below, let’s look at how exactly.

Snowflakes Kanzashi master class

To make a beautiful product, you need to buy the accessories indicated in the list below. For convenience, we will consider separate details for the upper and lower flowers, then it will be clearer what is needed for one winter fantasy snowflake.

Details for making a small flower:

  • 12 pieces of satin ribbon each in white and blue colors - 2.5 * 52.5 cm;
  • 2 white felt bases - 2.5 cm and 3.5 cm;
  • 6 double-sided blue stamens;
  • blue rhinestone chain;
  • white half bead - 1.2 cm;
  • white beads with a diameter of 3 mm.

Details for making a large flower:

  • 7 pieces of white, blue ribbon, silver brocade - 5*5 cm;
  • white felt base - 4 cm.

Details for making seven branches:

  • 14 pieces of white and blue ribbon - 2.5 * 2.5 cm;
  • 7 pieces of blue ribbon - 2.5*2.5 cm;
  • 7 pieces of transparent rhinestones - 6 mm in diameter.

The winter ornament is conveyed by almost traditional types of kanzashi petals: triple sharp petals and round ones (double and single). Overall it turns out to be a beautiful and delicate decoration. In addition, there is interesting work ahead on independent modeling of the middle.

Snowflake-kanzashi step by step

The photo shows fragments of fittings necessary for interesting work. We will not dwell on preparing pieces of satin ribbons. Craftswomen already know that threads that come loose during cutting should be scorched with the flame of a lighter, and this should be done carefully and quickly. But we’ll tell you in more detail how to model an interesting middle. Cut out a square of felt. Glue a large half bead onto it. Cover it with a chain of blue rhinestones around it. Next, cover it with beads – small and elegant. Sew the beads tightly, without gaps. After this, use small scissors to cut the felt around the circumference, clearly connecting the cut to the edge of the center.

To create a triple petal from 5cm squares, fold all the squares twice.

You should get triangles. Assemble “puffs” from blue, white and silver ribbon. Close the sharp corners with your fingers, then seal them with a match and cut them off from the bottom.

To create double rounded petals, use 2.5 cm squares. Layer blue on white. Press the sharp corners to a right angle. To form a drop, round the inside, move the sides back, and solder in this position.

Insert small droplets into the holes of the large triple petals.

Cut a round felt and glue all 7 petals onto it.

Glue another 17 rounded petals into a small flower yourself (it will become the top one), prepare blue stamens for decoration.

Cut the stamen threads in half. Glue each head along the small petal.

Also make branches from small blue, light blue and white squares. Model rounded petals with a central fold, single-layered. There are 2 times fewer blue parts - they will become the tops, the rest should be placed in pairs on the sides. Glue the branches together and decorate with crystal droplets.

Glue the branches between the large petals of the bottom layer.

A beautiful winter product is ready. The frost outside the window draws unique patterns, and we were able to simulate an imitation of such a creation from ordinary satin ribbons.

Kanzashi new ideas

If you liked this technique, then we bring to your attention other master classes in the kanzashi technique.

For the New Year, you want to decorate your home in some unusual way. Fortunately, on the Internet you can find many master classes that make it easy to create any paper decoration. In this article we will present you an option for making New Year's snowflakes made from ribbons using the kanzashi technique.

Kanzashi was not originally a craft technique. This was the name of the flowers that Japanese geisha girls used to decorate their hair. These flowers were made from fabric and various bright scraps to match the color of the kimono and eyes. These flowers were and are the only decoration for Japanese women, because they cannot wear any earrings, rings, brooches or rings.

In addition, kanzashi indicated the social status of the woman or girl who decorated her hair with them. The more flowers a lady has on her head, the richer she is. However, if a woman got married, then she was no longer allowed to wear a lot of jewelry on her head. She could attach a maximum of two flowers to her hair to complete her look.

At first, when kanzashi first came into fashion in Japan, they were ordinary simple combinations of fabric that looked like daisies. Only at the beginning of the 19th century a new style of kanzashi appeared - “tsunami”, thanks to which the flowers became multi-tiered, voluminous and more beautiful.

Kanzashi-tsunami were made only from handmade Chinese natural silk. The Japanese themselves already dyed silk in the colors they needed, using natural dyes.

In the middle of the 19th century, the Japanese even began to open workshops in which professional fabric flowers were made for all seasons. For example, in the spring, they create yellow kanzashi:

  • Daffodils
  • Peonies
  • Peach flowers

These same flowers are green in summer and red in autumn.

Europeans picked up the idea of kanzashi at the end of the 19th century and began to use it not only to create flowers, but also many other shapes. As a needlework technique, in Russia kanzashi began to be used to make hairpins decorated with flowers. Petals can be made in two forms:

  • Round

  • Acute

In exactly the same way you can make Kanzashi snowflakes made from ribbons. We will present a detailed master class on making one of these snowflakes in the next section.

How to make snowflakes from kanzashi with your own hands?

Snowflakes in kanzashi style look gentle and elegant. They can be used to decorate a Christmas tree, a brooch or a hairpin for a girl. We suggest you make one like this Kanzashi snowflake for New Year:

To make one product you need a set of the following materials:

  • 12 satin squares with sides of 5 cm in blue and white colors (6 pieces of each color, respectively)

  • 37 satin squares with sides 2.5 cm in blue and white colors
  • 6 brocade square blanks made of lurex and shiny thread with sides of 4 cm
  • One circle of felt (either white or blue), the diameter of which is 3.5 cm
  • Needle, thread, heat gun
  • A small bead and a bead hugger corresponding to its diameter

The entire snowflake should consist of three main parts:

  1. The main (large) flower is made from 5 cm square blanks
  2. Small flower made from 2.5 cm square blanks
  3. Branches (6 pieces) from white and blue squares

Now let's figure out step by step how to do this a simple kanzashi snowflake:

  1. Fold three different squares - white, blue and brocade - diagonally to form triangles.

  1. Place the resulting triangles on top of each other (on blue and white, and then on brocade) and fasten them with a needle, but do not sew them together.

  1. Make a petal from this blank, sewing it together as in the photo:

  1. Make 6 small petals from white satin ribbon

  1. Insert these petals into the larger ones so that they look like this:

  1. Make small double petals from small satin squares and then combine them into a flower:

  1. Glue the large and small flowers together using a heat gun:

  1. Glue a white felt circle on the wrong side:

    1. Make rays from small white and blue petals and glue them between the petals of a large flower.

      1. Glue a bead to the small flower to complete the snowflake.

This snowflake can be used in different ways. For example, attach a bobby pin or hairband to it. Then you will get a wonderful New Year's hairpin for a girl who is going to dress up in a Snow Maiden costume for a matinee. You can trim her dress with exactly the same snowflakes.

By attaching a braid to such a snowflake, you can decorate the New Year tree very elegantly. Moreover, now decorating a Christmas tree in this style is very popular and fashionable, since glass toys were popular many years ago. You can also make a garland out of snowflakes by simply sewing them together.

At the same time, snowflakes do not have to be made from ribbons of cold shades. You can use any tape you have on hand. In any case, snowflakes will look harmonious on the New Year tree and will not go unnoticed by the guests who come to your home for the holiday.

In the video below, the needlewoman shows master class on making kanzashi snowflakes for beginners. Here you can see the process of creating a snowflake, which we described in the article. Only here a slightly different fabric was used, and the snowflake itself has a different shape.

Kanzashi snowflake - what you need to prepare for work

  • Tools you will need are scissors and a needle and thread.
  • Glue (hot gun or Moment glue).
  • Candle or lighter, tweezers.
  • The materials are satin ribbon 5 cm wide, white or pale blue.
  • Cardboard or a piece of felt fabric.
  • Use beautiful glue pebbles or small beads to decorate snowflakes.

How to make a kanzashi snowflake

  • We immediately draw your attention to the fact that it is necessary to prepare all the tools and materials, because the work ahead is painstaking, so you should not be distracted by searching for the necessary material and equipment.
  • You need to cut out squares measuring 5 by 5 cm from satin ribbon. In total, you will need 42 squares. The number of blanks and their size may vary and depend on the type of snowflake. Therefore, if you want to make a snowflake with small petals, then you need to prepare another ribbon 3 cm wide and make blanks measuring 3 by 3 cm.
  • From each square you need to make a petal. How to do it: fold the workpiece diagonally, then again and again. You will get a small triangle.
  • The outer corners of the figure need to be wrapped towards the middle part of the workpiece to create a rounded triangle shape. It is best to work with tweezers, because it is very difficult to hold such a small part in your hands. Instead of tweezers, you can use a clamp.
  • The first figure is ready, now you need to fix the corners. To do this, you need to cut off the excess and use a lighter to melt the edges. When you melt the edge, press the area with tweezers. You can also firmly press the cut area with your fingers a few seconds after melting. The fabric will not be as hot, but will still have time to set.
  • Look at the first petal - if it is uneven, you need to trim off the excess with scissors, trim it and also melt the edges of the tape with a lighter.
  • We make 12 such petals. There are still 30 blanks left to make pointed petals. The workpiece is folded in exactly the same way, only the edges need to be made sharp, not rounded.
  • We cut off the excess and melt it with a lighter. Make sure that all the pieces are the same size.
  • We take 6 petals, string them on a needle and thread, and tie the ends of the thread. It turns out to be a round center.
  • Now you need to glue the sharp triangles together. You can glue it with glue or string it on a thread. Only the petals are not glued completely, but in the corners.
  • We have made double petals, now we need to connect pairs of petals and insert a third one, this way we get blanks that need to be fastened in pairs (sewn or glued). In this way, the rays of a snowflake are formed.
  • The workpiece must be attached to the base. Cut out a circle from thick cardboard (or felt fabric). The diameter of the circle should be equal to the diameter of the central flower.
  • You need to immediately form a loop from a thin tape and glue it to the workpiece.
  • Next, you need to assemble the snowflake: glue the central part and the rays in sequence. The work is painstaking, take your time, everything will work out.
  • The snowflake is ready, all that remains is to make a few touches: attach beads or glue rhinestones.

At the New Year's party, everything sparkles and shimmers, the center of attention is an elegant one, decorated with balls and garlands, and around her cute snowflakes and bunnies - boys and girls - dance in a circle. How children like to dress up for the New Year. Mothers think through a carnival costume with special trepidation, especially when it comes to girls. Hair should also be decorated in a special way - using suitable winter accessories. Such a charming one would be suitable for girls snowflake, which will decorate a hair clip or elastic band. But we should also not forget about the youngest fashionistas, who do not yet have luxurious curls on their heads, but they are already beginning to understand what the New Year is, and that on this day they just need to sparkle. For such little ones, a comfortable elastic bandage decorated with the same snowflake will become a decoration. To make your own accessory, follow our step-by-step tutorial. (Remember that the basics kanzashi techniques you can look.)

Blue and white snowflake made from ribbons

The master class provides an exhaustive list of materials and tools that are necessary for manufacturing snowflakes made from ribbons, the assembly diagrams of five types of kanzashi petals and the way to attach them to a New Year's accessory are shown step by step.

What you need to prepare to create a kanzashi snowflake

When creating holiday accessories, you can stick to any bright color scheme, but when it comes to... snowflakes, then it is better to use white and blue fittings. To make the same product you will need from tapes:

  • - 6 strips of white satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide and 5.5 cm long;
  • - 6 strips of white satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide and 10 cm long;
  • - 12 squares of blue and white satin ribbon with a side of 5 cm;
  • - 6 squares of silver lurex ribbon with a side of 5 cm;
  • - 12 squares of blue satin ribbon with a side of 2.5 cm;
  • - 6 squares of white satin ribbon with a side of 2.5 cm;
  • - 12 strips of white satin ribbon 0.6 cm wide of different lengths 6; 5.5 and 5 cm.

From decorative elements take:

  • - blue half-bead 0.8 cm in diameter - 1 piece;
  • - a holder suitable for a half bead, 2 cm in diameter - 1 piece;
  • - glue half-beads 0.5 cm in diameter - 12 pieces.

Tools:

  • - thread with needle;
  • - hot glue from a special gun;
  • - scissors;
  • - lighter;
  • - burner.

A snowflake consists of several flowers, twigs and sharp leaves. The main flower is a structure of five-layer sharp petals. The upper flower is composed of wavy white petals. Also gently woven into the overall ensemble are blue petals of a wavy design and triple branches, the central petal of which is double sharp, and the two side petals are made of triple loops. The leaves are white quadrangles, representing triangular pieces of white tape welded together.

How to make a top white layer

Take 6 pieces of white tape 2.5 cm long 5.5 cm (photo 1).

Fold each piece at a right angle in the center (photo 2).

Fold again, connecting the two ends of the ribbon (Photo 3).

Gather the bottom of the petal into an accordion and make a triple fold (photo 4).

Glue the petals together (or use a thread and a needle to form a flower) (photo 5).

Formation of blue petals

Prepare 6 blue stripes 5.5 cm long from 2.5 cm tape (Pic 6).

Place the strip with the front side facing you and horizontally. Lower the two upper opposite corners down, leaving a small space in the center (photo 7).

Fold the resulting triangular piece, leaving the back part inside (photo 8).

In the resulting four-layer triangle, first bend one corner, pointing it towards the center (photo 9).

Then do the same on the opposite side (photo 10).

At the bottom of the petal, secure the fold with a flame or hot glue (photo 11).

Prepare 6 blue petals in the same way (photo 12).

How to make five-layer sharp kanzashi petals

To make the petals, you need to prepare triple parts from white, blue and silver ribbon and double parts from white and blue ribbon. The blanks for this procedure are squares with a side of 5 cm and 2.5 cm, indicated in the list (photo 13).

Fold each square 2 times along the central diagonal and the triangle in half again (photo 14).

Place the small blue triangle on the white one, roll it into a petal shape and glue it together. Place large triangles on top of each other in the following order: white - blue - silver (photo 15).

The large petal is formed according to the same principle (photo 16).

Glue a small double petal inside a triple sharp petal to get an elegant five-layer cake (photo 17).

Collect elegant petals using a needle or glue (photo 18). Glue a holder with a turquoise half-bead into the center of the white flower.

Assembling a snowflake

Glue a white flower, decorated with a center, onto the main one (photo 19).

Glue the blue petals between the petals of the lower flower (photo 20, 21).

Make branches. Their central element will be the double sharp petal of kanzashi (photo 22).

For triple loops, take thin strips of 0.6 cm satin ribbon. Bend the strips to form a three-layer loop, singe the ends and glue them together (photo 23).

Form 6 branches (photo 24).

Glue the branches under the bottom of the blue petals (photo 25).

Complete the composition with 6 white petals from strips of 2.5 by 10 cm ribbon. Fold the piece of ribbon right side inward and cut it diagonally with a burner (photo 26). You can use one part of the petal or the other.

Glue sharp quadrangles from below, between the branches (photo 27,28).

Add small half beads to the petals of the top flower and to the sharp tips of the white leaves (Pic 29).

Glue the entire snowflake onto felt for further attachment to an elastic band, hair clip or elastic hair band. The size of the finished snowflake is 11.5 cm.

In this master class you can make any snowflakes using the kanzashi technique:

Or for your little fairy:

Snowflake made from ribbons and bias tape

Handmade snowflakes will decorate your home and will be a wonderful gift. The use of bias tape in kanzashi decorations has become quite common. Most people use it in, I tried combining it with a satin ribbon. I liked the result, the product looks airy and unusual.

Necessary materials

For the snowflake we need:

  • 14 pieces of white bias tape – 1.5*4 cm;
  • 12 pieces of white satin ribbon – 5*5 cm;
  • 6 pieces of gold brocade (you can also use silver) – 5*5 cm;
  • 18 pieces of white bias tape – 1.5*7.5 cm;
  • White felt base with a diameter of 4 cm;
  • Gold color tire;
  • Center with rhinestone chain with a diameter of 2 cm
  • White felt base 2.5*2.5 cm under the middle;
  • The fastening can be anything: a clip, an elastic band, a hoop, a bandage or a golden cord to decorate a forest beauty,
  • Glue "Moment Crystal"
  • lighter,
  • needle and thread.

Step-by-step description of a snowflake

1. Let's start making our snowflake from the top tier. This is a small bias tape flower. We cut the binding into 4 cm pieces. To prevent the binding from crumbling, I used a thermal cutter. We will need 14 segments. Take one piece and fold it in half lengthwise. We solder the edges using a lighter (Photo 1).

2. We assemble the finished pieces onto a thread. You can also glue them together. Choose a method more convenient for you. On a felt base 2.5*2.5 cm we glue a half-bead of gold color and around it a rhinestone chain with Moment Crystal glue. It will take about an hour for the middle to stick well, then we cut off all the excess (Photo 2).

3. Glue our center to the small flower (Photo 3).

4. Let's proceed to the lower tier. It will consist of six triple pointed petals and branches of bias tape. Let's start with the triple petals. For one, we will need two pieces of white ribbon 5*5 cm and gold brocade 5*5 cm. Take each piece and fold it in half twice diagonally. We get three triangles (Photo 4).

5. Place the three pieces together so that the brocade is in the middle. We connect the edges together, trim the tip and solder it with a lighter. We cut the bottom of the petal at an angle and solder it (Photo 5).

6. We make the remaining petals in the same way. You will need 6 of them. From felt, cut out a white felt circle with a diameter of 4 cm (Photo 6).

7. Glue our petals to the circle at the same distance (Photo 7).

8. Let's start with the branches from the bias tape. For six branches we will need 18 pieces of binding. Each segment is 7.5 cm. We make droplets from each segment and glue them together (Photo 8).

9. Make six branches. They can be used on both sides. Choose which one you like best (Photo 9).

From fabric, with a skillful and creative approach, it is possible to make unusual and elegant snowflakes. Popular and affordable satin ribbons are suitable for kanzashi products; you can also use organza or silk, satin or metallized fabric. If we are talking about snowflakes, then it is better to choose delicate colors - white, blue or pink, cream.

This master class shows a photo tutorial on creating New Year's kanzashi snowflakes from satin ribbons, which can become the basis of a hairpin for a girl, part of a ball gown, Christmas tree decorations or decoration for the interior, mirrors. Such accessories will not go unnoticed at the New Year's party. If your baby will be the Snow Maiden or a snowflake at a matinee, then be sure to decorate her hair and dress with similar exclusive products.

Snowflakes are made by combining different-format sharp kanzashi petals: single white, blue and white double, triple with the addition of silver brocade. The scheme for their implementation is standard; the photo tutorial shows such a model using the most complex triple example. First, prepare everything you need, based on how many products you want to make.

To create one snowflake using the kanzashi technique we will need:

  • pieces of satin ribbon 5*5 cm in blue, white and silver brocade of the same size - 7 pieces of each color;
  • pieces of satin ribbon 2.5*2.5 cm - 28 pieces blue and 39 pieces white;
  • 7 one-sided stamens (preferably pale blue);
  • bead huggers - 2 cm;
  • turquoise half beads - 0.8 cm.

Additional materials:

  • for attaching the New Year's composition - a felt base with a diameter of 4 cm;
  • for processing tape and gluing - scissors, lighter, thread and needle, glue gun;
  • for making a hair accessory - a clip or elastic band;
  • to turn into a Christmas tree toy - a thin ribbon in the form of a loop.

The diameter of the finished product for fittings of the specified sizes is 7.5 cm.

Master class of Kanzashi snowflakes with step-by-step photos

All petals will be made from squares of satin ribbon by combining two shades and silver. For triple petals, prepare squares of white, blue and brocade, the side of the square is 5 cm.

After carefully treating the cuts with a flame, bend all the prepared squares diagonally.

Make a sandwich of three double-layered triangles. Make the bottom blue, the middle white, and the top silver. When placing parts on top of each other, move the layers down 1 mm.

Form sharp petals with a shiny center. Trim off the sharp tip and bottom base.

Make 7 triple petals.

Using smaller 2.5cm white and blue satin squares, make double small petals. They are performed in the same way as described above, but you need to overlay blue on white to reverse the colors.

Using glue, make an elegant sharp petal consisting of 5 layers - insert small parts into the central hole of the large ones (covering the silver layer).

Also, to model a delicate snowflake you will need 11 simple single petals made of white ribbon, 14 blue and white parts (with white centers) and 7 petals with a blue ribbon in the center, decorated with stamens. It is better to take stamens for work in a color that does not differ from the main fittings.

Gather 11 white simple petals onto a thread to create a flower to decorate the center.

Glue 7 large petals consisting of 5 layers. Glue a hugger and a turquoise half-bead into the center of the white flower.

Glue a three-dimensional snowflake from two prepared layers.

To fill the gaps between the rays, prepare twigs. In total, you need to make 7 branches, which will consist of a pair of double sharp petals with a white center and one central petal with a stamen.

Glue the branches around the circumference.

Glue the snowflake onto the white felt circle.

The New Year's snowflake of Kanzashi is ready. All that remains is to come up with additional fastening depending on the purpose. Glue an elastic band or hair clip to the felt; a hoop or machine gun will also work. And in order to hang it on the Christmas tree, take care of a secure loop. The color scheme used sets a frosty mood, so these decorations will look great on the Christmas tree.
