How to make a stalker costume at home. DIY exoskeleton: approximate diagram

An exoskeleton is an external frame that allows a person to perform truly fantastic actions: lift weights, fly, run at great speed, make giant leaps, etc. And if you think that only the main characters of “Iron Man” or “Avatar” have such devices, then you are deeply mistaken. They have been available to humanity since the 60s. last century; Moreover, you can learn how to assemble an exoskeleton with your own hands! However, first things first.

Exoskeleton: introduction

Today you can easily buy yourself an exoskeleton - similar products are produced by Ekso Bionics and Hybrid Assistive Limb (Japan), Indego (USA), ReWalk (Israel). But only if you have an extra 75-120 thousand euros. In Russia, only medical exoskeletons are currently produced. They are designed and produced by the Exoatlet company.

Scientists from General Electric and United States Military corporations made the first exoskeleton with their own hands back in the sixties of the last century. It was called Hardiman and could freely lift a load up to 110 kg into the air. The person who put on this device experienced a load in the process, as if lifting 4.5 kg! Only Hardiman himself weighed all 680 kg. That is why he was not in great demand.

All exoskeletons are divided into three types:

    fully robotic;

  • for legs.

Modern robotic suits weigh from 5 to 30 or more kg. They can be either active or passive (working only at the operator’s command). According to their purpose, exoskeletons are divided into military, medical, industrial and space. Let's look at the most remarkable of them.

The most impressive exoskeletons of our time

Of course, it won’t be possible to assemble such exoskeletons with your own hands at home in the near future, but it’s worth getting to know them:

  • DM (Dream machine). This is a fully automatic hydraulic exoskeleton that is controlled by the voice of its operator. The device weighs 21 kg and can support a person weighing up to a hundredweight. So far it is used for the rehabilitation of patients who cannot walk due to diseases of the central nervous system or other neuromuscular diseases. The approximate cost is 7 million rubles.
  • Exo GT. The mission of this exoskeleton is the same as the previous one - it helps people with pathologies of motor functions of the legs. The characteristics are similar to the previous one, the price is 7.5 million rubles.
  • ReWalk. Called to once again give movement to people with paraplegia. The device weighs 25 kg and can work without recharging for 3 hours. The exoskeleton is available in Europe and the USA for an amount equivalent to 3.5 million rubles.
  • REX. Today this device can be bought in Russia for 9 million rubles. The exoskeleton gives people with leg paralysis not only independent walking, but also the ability to stand up/sit down, turn around, moonwalk, go down stairs, etc. REX is controlled by a joystick and can function without recharging all day.
  • HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb). There are two versions - for arms and for arms/legs/torso. This invention allows the operator to lift a weight 5 times heavier than the limit for a person. It is also used for the rehabilitation of paralyzed people. This exoskeleton weighs only 12 kg, and its charging lasts for 1.0-1.5 hours.

How to make your own exoskeleton: James Hacksmith Hobson

The first and so far only person who managed to construct an exoskeleton outside the laboratory is Canadian engineer James Hobson. The inventor has assembled a device that allows him to freely lift 78-kilogram cinder blocks into the air. Its exoskeleton operates on pneumatic cylinders, which are supplied with energy by a compressor, and the device is controlled using a remote control.

The Canadian does not keep his invention a secret. You can learn how to assemble an exoskeleton with your own hands following his example on the engineer’s website and on his YouTube channel. However, keep in mind that the weight lifted by such an exoskeleton rests solely on the operator's spine.

DIY exoskeleton: approximate diagram

There are no detailed instructions that will allow you to easily assemble the exoskeleton at home. However, it is clear that it will require:

  • frame, characterized by strength and mobility;
  • hydraulic pistons;
  • hyperbaric chambers;
  • vacuum pumps;
  • power supply;
  • durable tubes that can withstand high pressure;
  • computer for control;
  • sensors;
  • software that allows you to send and convert information from sensors for the desired operation of valves.

How this composition will roughly work:

  1. One pump must increase the pressure in the system, the other must decrease it.
  2. The operation of the valves depends on the pressure in the pressure chambers, the increase/decrease of which will control the system.
  3. Arrangement of sensors (against the movement of the limbs): six - arms, four - back, three - legs, two feet (more than 30 in total).
  4. Computer software should eliminate pressure on the sensors.
  5. Sensor signals need to be divided into conditional (the information from them is useful if the unconditional sensor does not “speak” about the pressure it experiences) and unconditional. The conditionality/unconditionality of these elements can be determined, for example, by an accelerometer.
  6. The exoskeleton's hands are three-fingered, separated from the operator's wrist, to prevent injury and provide additional strength.
  7. The power source is selected after assembly and trial testing of the exoskeleton.

So far, only in the field of rehabilitation, they are already beginning to enter our lives. Inventors are emerging who are able to build such a device outside the laboratory. It is quite possible that in the near future any schoolchild will be able to assemble a Stalker exoskeleton with his own hands. It is already possible to predict that such systems are the future.

So, you are a fan of Stalker. Or was I wrong? If not, then let's think about it. The appropriate paraphernalia will not hurt you. Perhaps you have a gas mask, you have an old grandfather’s shotgun hidden from the punitive authorities, you have a dosimeter. Well, so what? Just because you have a dosimeter does not mean that you are a stalker.
And I say all this for this reason. Probably, we all have at one time or another had the desire to make something, and then walk around with our heads held high and say: “I did this myself!!!” Exactly the same here. Perhaps some would like to make something based on Stalker for their own use, but did not know how.
And since I, after all, am a representative of the female gender, then, guys, I can help you.

So, STALKER COSTUME.
Don't think that this is very difficult. In one evening, you and I will make such a costume that nothing can be said in a fairy tale. And you will look amazing in it. Just try, have patience and a girl (or mom, or sister) on hand just in case. And the result of your labors will not be long in coming!

We will need:
1.For the costume itself:
- some old worn trousers, jeans or, even better, camouflage pants
- windbreaker. If possible, it is also advisable to wear camouflage, but if not, then something old and gray will do.
- jacket (T-shirt) with a hood
- old cloth gloves
- heavy boots. In principle, any shoes will do, even sports ones, as long as they are not “model” (heels, narrow toes)
2. Accessories:
- 2 bags (you can take a backpack and one hip bag made of fabric, or, say, from a gas mask kit)
- gas mask (optional)
- weapons (optional, although if you wish, you can go to a children's store and buy a plastic Kalash and a couple of equally plastic grenades). Also a knife. Preferably some kind of wide military one, but if desired, make do with a large kitchen one with a sheath. Place the gun in the holster.
- belt
- several ropes of different thicknesses
- several carbines
3. To help:
- needle
- threads
- a few scraps of fabric

Let's get started!
We start by trying on things. Put on a T-shirt, put on a hood. Then pants and boots, then a jacket. So how? Normal look, nothing stalkerish. But it’s okay, soon you will look different!
On the back of the jacket, imitating a seal, write with a purple felt-tip pen: “Chernobyl nuclear power plant.” Then cross it out with two lines. Take a few scraps of fabric and put them on your clothes in random order in the form of patches.
Put on your belt. Fasten the knife. If you don't have a sheath, put it in your belt. Just be careful!!!
Attach the holster to the other side. Also tie a rope about 70 cm long to your belt, wind it, attach a carabiner to the other end and also fasten it to your belt. Cut off the fingers from old gloves and put them on.
It's time for the bags. Stuff something into your backpack to make it look bigger. Also put there a tattered notebook, where you previously wrote down the names of anomalies and mutants, a map (take some old map of some Bobruisk, paint over the name and sign it in clumsy letters: ZONE). You may also need a dosimeter. And the most important thing! Don't forget to put some heavy cobblestones there. For what? What about the artifacts? Ukrainian money - hryvnia. Old photo. Bottles without a label with some kind of cloudy liquid. Anti-radiation solution. A small key from who knows why. You can add or remove anything at your discretion.
Small bag. Gas mask and ammunition (after all, I’m lost)). A few nuts.

Now “makeup”. You can, of course, do without it, but with a black eye, “stubble” (grow your own or ask your girlfriend to apply gray-black shadows on your cheeks) you will look much more “realistic”.

OK it's all over Now! Was it that hard? Stand in front of the mirror and look at all your equipment. Satisfied? Amazing! Now experiment with your look. Frown. Look bad. Make an angry, haggard face. Now that's it really!
You might be going to a costume party or Halloween. You can simply scare your friends by attacking them in the entrance. Take out the trash in a suit and watch the reactions of others. And get rid of the snickers of those around you who shush you in the back: “I also like the unfinished Stalker.” And most importantly, really become an order of magnitude closer to the phenomenon known as “The Stalker’s Exit.”

I have a couple of projects, suits that have been developed and are now undergoing testing. (All of them were developed for extreme tourism). Now I’m trying to understand how the exoskeleton works. If you have any thoughts, write to me ( [email protected]) Maybe we can pull something together with our joint efforts.

The stalker costume begins with an anti-encephalitis suit (a large hood with a visor and mesh, in the sleeves and legs there are inner half-glove sleeves and also inner trouser legs with a wide elastic band). So, we have received protection from local small insects and it’s time to think about small animals - heavy ankle boots or boots, guards from the foot to the knee, knee pads, protection for the forearms and elbows - now you can communicate with snakes and small dogs, as well as crawl on your knees without fear . Torso protection - a completely traditional body armor with additional groin and neck sections (protection class - the maximum in which you can exist relatively comfortably and move secretly), helmet / hard hat - according to your own preferences. Backpack d.b. large (at least 120 liters), but when empty it shrinks to a flat state (well, it’s understandable - a small one won’t fit much, but a large one will fit, but we pull the excess volume away). Unloading - (IMHO again) is not necessary, but if you really want to fight, put on the RPS (belt-waist system) because goes better with any backpack. A respirator-mask with replaceable filters (a gas mask is not needed in nature, but where you need a better insulating one, but you have to DRAG it there) For camouflage, we take the largest size GLC and lightly trim it with rags of an “unclear” or “dirty” color. Other equipment - depending on the purpose and time of entry (including weapons, first aid kit, gas mask, drinking water, etc.). The kit is assembled from clothes that are on sale and lying in the closet of tourist equipment. This happiness weighs quite a lot (mostly armor) but up to 20 kg. The remaining 30kg is “other equipment” and food. A realistic-ideal option, so to speak. IMHO.

Well, I don’t know, I found it in some hiding place, but the suit is honestly worthless, better look for the exoskeleton!

Answer from Have some fun[guru]
At the 100-Rengen bar, a guy will say: oh, if only someone could help. So take the quest from him about the family gun, you need to get it. Once you complete the quest, a marker will appear in the “wild territory” location with a cache in one of the houses, which is located near the railway, there is also a platform there. You can only get into this house from the roof. There will be a safe and SEVA in it. Just when you go down into the house, don’t fall into the hole, be careful along the beams.
