Characteristics of the birthday boy Nikolai:

From the ancient Greek language - winner of nations - Nikola, Mikola. In the old days, schismatics vehemently rejected the Greek name Nicholas as “dog”, because of the ending “barking.” Therefore, the only correct form was considered to be Nikola, Cola. Looking at the handsome, cheerful, sexy Nikolay, I just want to sing to him “Kolya, Kolya, Nikolay, stay at home - don’t go out!”

But Kolya - even if you sing, even if you scold, even if you close the door - he will still run away with a pretty girl. And if he also likes her, then in a day or two she will become his legal wife. After all, Kolya is terribly in love, and also very jealous. However, he can still be forgiven a lot. It literally works day and night. During the day he gives his best at work, and in the evening he improves his home. If he is a simple employee, then with his colleagues he is a “good guy”.

Well, if he is the boss, then he behaves like an “appanage princeling.” In this case, if one of his subordinates sees him in anger, he runs far away from his eyes. However, this situation usually does not last long. After all, Nikolai is essentially balanced, easy-going, and friendly. At home (in the family) Nikolai is an exemplary, caring husband and father.

He simply adores his children. Allows them to do whatever they want. But Nikolai himself should limit some things, in particular, excessive alcohol consumption.

Nikolai views himself as the center of action, with relatively little sense of other forces above and below him. He overestimates his importance in the world, and it seems to him that everything around him does not happen by itself, organically unfolding and guided by forces that have nothing to do with the implementation of human plans, but must certainly be done by some reasonable will.

Congratulations on Nikolai's name day:

Our Kolyochek, Nikolai.

Be the strongest in the world
And wiser and smarter,
And be responsible for your loved ones,
But... you know better.

But let me be next to you
Our warmth stomps,
Let everything be as it should be
To be lucky everywhere.

You are forever like Claus Santa,
Exude light for your loved ones.
You are the boss today
On this holiday, Nikolai.

I wish you, Kolyok,
So that your wallet is full,
So that every organ is healthy,
So that I never have enemies,
So that things always go well
And sometimes they helped.
Let what I wish come true.
Good luck, happiness to Nikolai!

Congratulations, Nikolay,
And we wish together:
Always know for sure
What is needed for happiness.

May distant dreams
They will fall into the palms of your hands,
May you be lucky
And he is capable of anything.

May there always be salt and bread
It will be in your house
May success find you
To fulfill your will.

Nikolay is a great guy:
He's a wonderful friend
He is attentive and sensitive,
Notices everything around.

Appreciates every minute
Gives people optimism.
Well, we wish him
Happiness and good luck sparks!

Today you, Nikolai,
Congratulations.
The winner of the people
Walk with your name.

I wish you victory
You achieved everything
And luck fell asleep
You with stars, so that it rains.

Let the fanfare sound to you,
Fireworks light the way,
The bird of happiness is above you
Let him not lose his wings.

† Nicholas of Myra, archbishop, wonderworker

The most revered saint in Rus' was Nicholas the Wonderworker (Pleasant), also known as St. Nicholas of Myra. Following the Mother of God, he is in second place in the number of icons and temples dedicated to him. What is this saint famous for, and why has he become the most popular among millions of Christians?

From childhood, the boy became familiar with God, fortunately, he was taken under the guardianship of a relative, the Greek bishop from Patara, Nicholas. He subsequently promoted his nephew's church career. The young clergyman loved to give gifts to the poor, giving them money and food. However, he often provided secret support to the laity.

One day Nicholas decided to visit Jerusalem as a pilgrim. At sea, the ship on which he was traveling almost sank. Nikolai was able, in some incomprehensible way, to predict the coming storm and calm it. True, one of the sailors, caught by the wind during a storm, fell from the mast and fell to his death. However, thanks to the prayers of the priest, the dead man was resurrected! This miracle was witnessed by the ship's crew, who immediately wished to accept the Christian faith.

Then Nicholas acquired the gift of positively influencing the destinies of the disadvantaged, and now his icons continue to help those who sincerely believe in him.

Having touched the Jerusalem shrines, Saint Nicholas firmly decided to stay in the monastery, which was located in the Palestinian desert, but the voice of the Almighty commanded him to return home. For unknown reasons, the Pleasant was unable to reach Patara: he stopped in Mir, where he was appointed archbishop. There he showed examples of patience, love, meekness, which are still legendary.

Soon the rumor about Nicholas spread throughout Asia Minor, Greece and the entire Christian world. Under Emperor Diocletian (284-305), he and his associates were taken into custody for his beliefs and spent 8 years in prison. When Equal-to-the-Apostles Constantine I the Great ascended the throne, Nicholas returned to his temple, where the people rejoiced at meeting him. In 330, Constantine made Constantinople the capital of the empire (Orthodox Byzantium).

All his life, Nicholas took care of his own parish, which over time grew far beyond the borders of Lycia.

Days of memory of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker:

  • December 19th;
  • 22nd of May;
  • October 5 as part of the Cathedral of Tula Saints.

In addition, every weekday Thursday is considered a day of veneration of the exploits of the apostles and St. Nicholas.

Watch also the video about Angel Nicholas Day:

Nikolai is a very common name in Russia, and, perhaps, in the world too. In this article we will talk about such a topic as the name day of the bearers of this noble Greek name, as well as the life of their main patron saint.

Name day is a holiday that is also called angel day. In fact, this is a purely church holiday, and therefore Nicholas’ name day can only be celebrated by those owners of this name who were baptized with him. Unfortunately, it does not apply to the rest. As such, Angel's Day is the day of remembrance of the saint in whose honor a person is baptized. Such a saint is considered a personal patron, protector and intercessor before God on behalf of a person.

How is an angel's day chosen?

As a rule, the day of the angel is set before baptism, when a saint is chosen in whose name the sacrament will be performed. This choice lies entirely with the person being baptized. Or, if this is a baby, the parents solve this problem for him. There are, however, cases when a person who was baptized in infancy does not know in memory of which of the saints of God he was named. In this case, you are allowed to choose your own patron yourself - guided either by special sympathy for this or that saint, or by a purely formal determination procedure, which consists of the fact that according to the church calendar, the day of remembrance of his namesake saint is closest to the person’s birthday. This saint will be considered the patron saint. They do the same thing when parents come to church with a chosen name, but have no idea in honor of which saint to baptize their child. This happens because not very religious people who baptize children simply to keep traditions or, even worse, out of superstitious fear, most often do not care who becomes the patron of their children.

Nicholas's name day

The day on which specific Nikolai celebrate their angel day is quite difficult to determine. Firstly, because of the extreme prevalence of this name and, as a consequence, because of the huge number of saints who bear it. Judge for yourself - Nicholas’ name day, according to the church calendar, can fall on at least four dozen different dates. Secondly, despite the impressive list of holy namesakes, most of Nikolaev, at least in Russia, prefer to be baptized in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, bypassing all the calendar rules for identifying saints. This is usually due to the fact that people simply do not know any other Saint Nicholas. Below we provide a list of the main saints revered in Russia, on whose memory day Nicholas’ name day is celebrated. However, this is by no means a complete list, since throughout the Orthodox world there are hundreds of saints who are widely revered in some regions and countries and virtually unknown in others. Well, after the list, we will get acquainted with the short life of the most famous saint, in whose honor the name day of Nicholas is celebrated - St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

List of saints

All dates are indicated according to the new style. Old style dates are given in parentheses.

  • 14.01 (1.01) Hieromartyr Nicholas (Bezhanitsky).
  • 16.02 (3.02) Equal to the Apostles Nicholas. Founded an Orthodox mission in Japan.

Brief life of St. Nicholas

You can talk a lot about who Archbishop Nicholas the Wonderworker was during his lifetime. But the trouble is that in more than one and a half thousand years (and he lived in the 3rd-4th centuries), he turned from a historical figure into a mythological and archetypal character. From the real personality of this saint, who became the prototype of Santa Claus, little remains - stories about fantastic miracles and some vivid historical information collected from the lives of various bishops of the same name. Thus, the saint we are borrowing is a collective, idealized image, composed partly from the biographies of several real people, partly from popular fantasies and folklore. All that can be stated is that he was born and lived in Asia Minor, occupied the chair of the archbishop of the city of Myra in Lycia, and preached Christianity with all his might. Among other things, he is credited with such an unseemly act as the destruction of a number of pagan sanctuaries. There is no other reliable information about him.

Only once in a lifetime do parents have the opportunity to name their child. You should definitely prepare for this carefully and discuss together the options that you like the most. Today, astrologers and other specialists talk a lot about the importance of making the right choice. In their works you can see how the fate of a person with a certain name can turn out. No one can confirm or deny the reliability of such information, but it is worth familiarizing yourself with it; perhaps some arguments in the description of the option you like will become compelling reasons for making a decision.

The male name Nikolai does not lose its popularity today. Its various variations can be heard in different countries, but it came to us, like most names, from ancient Greece. The literal meaning is “conqueror of nations.” In Christianity there is a very revered Nicholas the Wonderworker, whom our ancestors loved very much, and today many go to church with their prayers and requests. The name Nicholas became relevant for Kievan Rus only after Christianity was adopted. It is the saint that many people think about when they give their son such a beautiful and ancient name. Parents really believe that the child will have a strong and powerful protector who simply cannot abandon him in difficult times and will always help him find a way out.

Little Kolya.

From early childhood, the baby will clearly show his parents that he really needs freedom. He will show character for any reason, and sometimes it will become difficult to cope with the baby. The child will grow up to be a real fidget. Parents will be calm while he is in kindergarten, and teachers will begin to wait in the morning for the child to be taken home. He needs to be constantly occupied with something so that he can sit still calmly. Children, watching the energetic baby, gladly take part in all his games and unquestioningly obey the inventor and ringleader. In kindergarten, such energy will be directed in a peaceful direction and the most that kids can do is play catch-up or hide-and-seek, but during school years it will be difficult to cope with such a child.

Complaints from teachers about disruptions to lessons or similar childish behavior may continue until the child finishes 11th grade. Despite such a lively and active character, he can still become a diligent student, especially considering that he masters almost all subjects very easily. Most often, the child shows a tendency towards precise objects. Continents and physics do not seem difficult or boring to him; he enjoys solving problems and proving theorems, delighting both teachers and his parents.

The child is very cheerful and cheerful, he easily fits into a new team and very quickly makes new friends and acquaintances. His hobbies may include completely different and sometimes incompatible things, but he has enough attention for everything. Parents will be surprised how they can play football or war games at the same time and then calmly practice chess.

Parents should definitely pay attention to the fact that in some cases Kolya demands increased attention to himself or begins to playfully capricious. You cannot react to such provocations, much less satisfy all your son’s whims, otherwise he will grow up to be a very spoiled and selfish young man. Strictness in upbringing must be present; sometimes control will be absolutely useful. A child needs to be loved and pampered, but only within certain limits; he should not become the center of family life. All grievances or even children's tears about a toy left in the store, which is not particularly needed, should be left unattended. The child just needs to clearly and strictly formulate why mom or dad didn’t buy what he asked for. Displayed tantrums should not be a concern, nor should judgment from other people. Parents should remember that all this is done only for the well-being of the child, and not for everyone’s approval.

Love.

Nikolai will grow up to be a young man who will be able to first evaluate the girl’s external world, and then will evaluate all external parameters. For him, the most attractive feature will be the sharp mind and high level of intelligence of the chosen one. In relationships, Nikolai is able to show himself as jealous and possessive. He will not listen to reproaches from the girl, even if they are truly justified. If there is intimacy in a relationship, then it is at these moments that you can consider a real man, he will give compliments not out of a sense of duty, but sincerely, and when he confesses his love, then it will really be true. It should be noted that men with the name Nikolai often pay attention to girls with luxurious forms, without holding their gaze on slender and thin figures.

The time for romantic dates and courtship will be organized according to all the rules, the young man will do everything as beautifully and correctly as possible. This tactic will help him seduce his chosen one. Kolya can do this when, even after breaking up with him, the girl has no anger or resentment left, but, most likely, a slight sadness because everything ended so quickly.

Nikolai's girls can change very quickly. He loves to conquer and charm, but quickly loses interest after that. Even in short-term relationships, he does not allow the option of betrayal, and if such a thought appears, then he simply leaves.

Families.

Lust for love can very often become the reason for a rather late marriage; a man will carefully look at possible candidates and carefully analyze everything. If he decided to take a girl to the registry office, then he definitely loves her very much. The chosen one of such a man can become a very happy woman, because in the barque Nikolai will reveal himself as a good owner, a caring and very attentive husband, and after some time as a truly amazing father. Such a man will very often be set as an example by his wife’s friends to their husbands; they may envy such family happiness and complete harmony. Cheating in marriage is unacceptable for a man. This option is only possible if the wife denies him intimacy. He will be able to satisfy his physiological needs with another woman, but will begin to carefully hide such a relationship from his wife.

Children will bask in the attention of their dad, he can happily study with them and teach them lessons, it is absolutely not difficult for him to take children to school or pick them up from school. All these responsibilities can bring him real pleasure and joy. The only problem that can arise in such a family is the man’s excessive love for alcohol. If the wife can stop all such phenomena, then the family can truly be called ideal.

Job.

For his colleagues and management, Nikolay will be a responsible and competent employee with whom to work. In a leadership position, he will prove to be a very tough and demanding leader, he will enjoy his authority and power, and this can have a very negative impact on his character.

He himself is not a slacker and will never tolerate negligence towards work on the part of his subordinates.
A beautiful and sonorous name is only the first step towards a happy and dignified life. Proper upbringing and attention from parents will really help a boy become a worthy and real man.

A little man who comes into this world receives a gift from birth - two Angels. The first is an Angel who helps to do good deeds and avoid evil - the Guardian Angel. The second Angel is the saint whose name we bear. This Angel asks God to help us. To remember this helper, there is an old tradition of celebrating the name day, the day of the Angel. For every Christian this is a special day, his spiritual birthday. Name day is the day of remembrance of the saint thanks to whom a person received his name.

When a baby is baptized, the church gives him the name of a saint. Thus, the baby receives direction for self-realization.

The baby still has a lot to achieve in life, so he always needs support. Receiving at baptism the name of a saint who became famous for his deeds, a person also receives an assistant who rejoices and mourns with him. Therefore, in addition to physical birth, every person also has a spiritual birthday, which is called name day.

Previously, there was a custom: at baptism, a person received a name, which was chosen according to certain rules. The baby received the name of the saint whose memory was celebrated on the day the baby was born or on the day the baptism procedure was carried out. For girls, it was allowed to make a shift of several days if there were no days of remembrance of holy women on the day of their birth or baptism. Thanks to this custom, the day of physical (actual) birth and name day were connected and merged together. This is where the custom comes from calling those who celebrate their birthday birthdays.

According to another rule, the baby could be named after a saint whom the parents had chosen earlier. Parents prayed to this saint even before the baby was born. In this case, the name day was celebrated on the day of remembrance of this saint. If there were several such days in a year, then they chose the date that was closest to the baby’s birthday.

You can celebrate your name day in different ways. A Christian must remember that on this day it is advisable to come to church, pray, confess, and receive spiritual support.

To be worthy of your name, you need to read and study data about the life of your patron saint. In addition, it is worth finding a prayer to your saint, which you can read both in difficult moments of life, and simply every day, remembering your patron.

Characteristics of the name Nikolai

Little Nikolai is a cunning and charming child. It costs him nothing to fool even his parents. He can pretend to be so simple-minded and naive that you won’t believe that he did something mischievous. Nikolai has a rich imagination and varied interests. He is active, loves outdoor games and walks.

Nikolai is an excellent student. He is well-read, thinks quickly, and knows how to get out of an unpleasant situation. Nikolai is extremely inquisitive and remembers material easily. He loves to be visible, talented, and happily participates in competitions, school plays and clubs. As a rule, teachers are very pleased with him.

Throughout his life, Nikolai will hide behind this mask of sincerity, friendliness and benevolence. But he is not at all simple, not open, and, moreover, not naive. Behind the mask lies cold reason, observation, and selfishness. Nikolai is waiting for the right moment to turn events in his favor. He is reserved and never says what he really thinks. He doesn’t care much about how others treat him, he doesn’t really value his friends, but he himself is not capable of betrayal.

Nikolai has a sharp mind. He will work conscientiously, but will not completely throw himself into his work. Nikolai is unlikely to take the initiative in any matter; he prefers to remain on the sidelines, but not lose sight of the situation. It is difficult to offend him, to piss him off, but if this happens, Nikolai’s mask will fall off for a moment. Behind it will appear his aggressiveness, strength, thirst for power, even cruelty. Nikolai will become a good lawyer, surgeon, tester. He will be a good leader because he cannot stand injustice and will not allow it. If Nikolai gives free rein to his talents, he is able to succeed in creative professions: artist, musician, writer.
